After being interviewed by Jason Tartick, former co-host of The Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe shared that she was “triggered” when she discovered that the series would include “two bachelorettes” next season. Featured on The Bachelorette season 11, Kaitlyn has since returned as an integral part of Bachelor Nation, co-hosting with Tayshia Adams during season 17. Well-received by fans, both Tayshia and Kaitlyn were praised for their co-hosting in light of Chis Harrison’s quick departure from the franchise.

Since leaving, Kaitlyn and Tayshia have expressed different emotions about the series. While Tayshia hopes to take some time to herself away from the show, while Kaitlyn has explained that she feels just the opposite. With Jesse Palmer now hosting, Kaitlyn has mentioned her disappointment in no longer being directly involved with The Bachelorette. Kaitlyn may no longer be a co-host, but she appears to be adamantly staying involved in all things Bachelor Nation.

In an interview with Jason for E! News, Kaitlyn expressed her annoyance with the franchise’s decision to feature both Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey in a single season of The Bachelorette. When asked about her feelings on the decision, Kaityln stated, “Can’t a woman have her own season?…I just want someone to have their own season and I don’t want it to be them pitted against each other.” Expressing how previous bachelorettes, such as Tayshia, Clare Crawley and Katie Thurston, were robbed of a season because of another woman, she predicted that something similar could happen to Rachel and Gabby. Without any clear answers about how the season will run, Kaitlyn shared her fears about the next season of The Bachelorette but explained that she doesn’t “know how the format is going to work” with two women leading the season.

While production has promised that Gabby and Rachel won’t have to compete with one another, Kaitlyn still appears skeptical about the process and direction of the franchise. Based on her own experiences as a co-host, she expressed that when she saw two females leading the show, it felt as if they were being left helpless, with producers leaving it “for the men to decide.” Wanting more for both Rachel and Gabby, Kaitlyn’s criticism is certain to affect fan opinions. While Kaitlyn admitted that morality on the series can often be a “gray area,” she still thinks that the season has the potential to be “weird.” Insightful about the potentially hazardous direction of The Bachelorette, Kaitlyn will be watching from the sidelines, waiting to see if her predictions become reality.

Even though previous seasons have struggled to have multiple leads at a time, production has moved forward with both Rachel and Gabby. The Bachelorette season 19 is full of surprises, aside from a non-traditional setup. With members from Bachelor Nation returning for a second chance and a mysterious new direction for the franchise, The Bachelorette has refreshed its take on reality dating and promises a new beginning for the popular ABC series.
