Bachelorette: Katie Thurston Reveals She & Blake Moynes ‘Still’ Talk

Former Bachelorette lead Katie Thurston revealed that she and her ex-fiancé Blake Moynes still keep in touch. Blake first competed for Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams’ hearts on their dual season, then slid into Katie’s DM’s after being eliminated. He joined Katie’s season late and the two fell in love, getting engaged at the end. Unfortunately, their engagement didn’t last long, and Blake and Katie decided to end things in October 2021.

Both Blake and Katie announced their breakup with a joint statement on their Instagram accounts. They shared that they parted ways mutually and still have love and respect for one another. They’re both happy with the journey they were able to go on together and asked for privacy during this time. They each shared a photo of the two of them at the After the Final Rose special. Since Katie lives in San Diego and Blake resides in Canada, the two had to have a long-distance relationship. Even though Katie traveled to Ontario to be with Blake, the distance could have been a factor in the former Bachelorette’s breakup.

Katie posted a video explaining her breakup on her Instagram and re-posted it to her Stories. She said that since both she and Blake “are very level-headed and mature” she knew that “if this was how our first six months was as a couple, going forward it was going to not be in our best interest for our happiness to stay together,” (via Us Weekly). Katie can be seen holding her cat in the video, which is captioned “Just venting.” She also mentioned that she and Blake “still stay in touch” and “still support each other.“

Katie also thanked her followers for being “kind and supportive” to both her and Blake during their public breakup. “I’m a big believer in, like, your happiness. Your happiness is the most important thing and that being said, why would you not pursue that?” Katie said. She stated that if there’s someone standing in the way of that, “we owe it to each other to step away, so that’s what we’re doing.” Even though their relationship is over, it’s good to know that both Katie and Blake seem to be prioritizing their own happiness.

While there are some couples from Bachelor Nation who have stood the test of time and are still together, it’s hard to find a life partner while filming a reality show for a couple of months. Blake and Katie definitely aren’t the only couple to go their separate ways after getting engaged on the show. Clare and Dale Moss recently ended things, seemingly for good this time, after getting engaged on Clare’s shortened season. At least fans of The Bachelorette know that Katie and Blake ended things for the betterment of themselves and their happiness.
