The Bachelorette star Tayshia Adams hasn’t jumped back into the dating pool after her split from Zac Clark. The former couple got engaged during the finale of her season in December 2020. They were together for almost a year before calling things off in November 2021.

Tayshia first joined Bachelor Nation as a contestant on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor. She was then named the Bachelorette after Clare Crawley left in season 16 early. Zac, who was initially a contestant for Clare, won Tayshia —and the viewers— over with a moving declaration of love in the finale. While many fans were shocked by their breakup, it soon came out that Tayshia and Zac had tension for some time, and never actually began wedding planning. Months after ending her engagement, the California native is opening up about her focus going forward, as well as the current status and potential future of her love life.

Tayshia spoke with Us Weekly at an Oscars viewing party on Sunday, March 27th. When asked about her love life, the former phlebotomist admitted that romance was “pretty nonexistent for me right now.” But the tv personality quickly made it clear she’s just fine with that. She continued, “I really have no desire,” before adding on that she could have more interest in dating later, “maybe a year from now.” Once she is ready to date, Tayshia, who is still in touch with Zac, emphasized she isn’t interested in meeting someone via apps or social media. Instead, she remarked, “I would love to meet somebody organically or a mutual friend of somebody because they kind of vet someone out to you.” She added that if any Bachelor Nation men tried to slide into her DMs, she’d reply, “‘Hi, hello. But a girl’s working, OK? I got s–t to do today.’” When asked what she’d be looking for in a partner, she shared, “Someone that’s strong, supportive, kind, ambitious, empathetic…I don’t know, just a good man.”

The 31-year-old then opened up about what she was choosing to focus on these days instead of dating. “I feel like my main focus right now is myself, my career, my mental health, my happiness, my family, my friends, and really just becoming my own [person],” she told Us, adding, “and I’m really happy with that.” This interview comes days after Tayshia admitted to stepping back from Bachelor Nation as a contestant. In addition to her engagement, Tayshia walked away from her season fully immersed in the reality franchise’s world. She began co-hosting podcasts, and hosted two seasons of The Bachelorette alongside Kaitlyn Bristowe.

However, in the wake of her split from Zac, the 31-year-old started taking a step back from the podcasts. Then during Clayton Echard’s finale, it was revealed Jesse Palmer would take over as Bachelorette host. While Kaitlyn said she was very sad not to be hosting, Tayshia appeared to view it as an opportunity to move on to other things. The Bachelorette season 19 is set to premiere in July. This is the first season that will have two leads, Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia as Bachelorettes, for the entire run.
