Bachelor Nation’s resident spoiler guru, Reality Steve, aka Steve Carbone, gave us some conflicting information this season. Here’s everything he got right, and wrong, about Clare and Tayshia’s season of The Bachelorette

This season of The Bachelorette was rich with spoilers from the very beginning. In August, rumors began swirling that Clare had quit the show. Reality Steve confirmed that there was “serious validity” to the rumors that Tayshia would be replacing Clare. Headlines soon broke that Clare had allegedly left the show with a contestant, Dale Moss. Reality Steve later revealed in an Instagram live that he was sure that Tayshia was on set at La Quinta Resort in Palm Springs. Although at the time there were rumors flying about other Bachelor stars like Becca Kufrin and Hannah Ann Sluss also being on set, Reality Steve confirmed that Tayshia was there. He also continued to update fans on when Tayshia was filming and who her top guys were before the franchise officially announced her involvement in the show.

Despite rumors that Clare and Dale might not still be together after the show, and that Clare might return as Bachelorette, Reality Steve also maintained that Clare and Dale were engaged, which is correct. The couple has been together since they left the show together in week three. After Clare was spotted wearing a massive engagement ring before her final episode aired, she said on Instagram that she wore the ring as a commitment to herself. Reality Steve called her bluff, which was indeed a lie. Dale and Clare are still engaged, and reportedly house hunting in New York City.

When it came to Tayshia’s season, Reality Steve called most spoilers correctly. He reported early on that Spencer Robertson got Tayshia’s first impression rose, which was correct. He also gave the names of the four men who entered the show on Tayshia’s first night; Spencer, Noah Erb, Montel Hill and Peter Giannikopoulos. He later reported that Tayshia’s top four guys would be Ivan Hall, Zac Clark, Ben Smith and Brendan Morais, which was also correct.

However, this is where things got confusing. Reality Steve reported early on that Tayshia’s top two guys would be Ben Smith and Zac Clark. He also said that Brendan would eliminate himself during hometown dates, and that Tayshia would not meet his family. The report stated that Brendan was Tayshia’s first choice, but that he would walk away. Ivan would come in third place in this scenario. Parts of this were true and parts were not. Brendan did eliminate himself, but not during hometowns. Tayshia met his family and was hopeful that they would end up together. Brendan surprised fans by eliminating himself during fantasy suite week, when he realized he wasn’t ready to be married again.

Ben Smith was not given a rose after hometown dates because he wasn’t able to open up to Tayshia enough. However, he returned during fantasy suite week to tell Tayshia he loved her. After Brendan’s self elimination, Tayshia decided to give Ben another shot. She then eliminated Ivan Hall, citing their religious differences as a deal breaker. So technically, Zac and Ben were the final two guys, just not quite in the way Steve predicted.

In Reality Steve’s first post about the finale of the show, he said that Tayshia would choose Zac Clark, but it appeared that the two had broken off their relationship in the time since the show was filmed. He also said that Tayshia and Zac did not get engaged in the finale. This was bolstered by hints from Chris Harrison that Tayshia’s season did not end well. Rumors that Tayshia didn’t pick anyone at the end of the season were also rampant. Speculation about Tayshia’s relationship status post-show was mostly that she was single.

Reality Steve changed his report about the end of the show just days before the finale aired. He admitted that he often got things wrong because he was forced to report rumors. This time, he reported that Tayshia was with Brendan after the show, and that she chose Zac at the end but that it didn’t work out. Tayshia and Brendan had reconnected, and were not engaged but working on their relationship.

As it turned out, his initial report was closer to the truth. The finale of The Bachelorette aired last night. Tayshia’s top two guys were indeed Ben and Zac. She eliminated Ben before the proposal portion of the finale, after he met her family. Zac got the approval of Tayshia’s mother, father and siblings, and Tayshia was more than happy when he proposed to her at the end of the episode. He was the only guy she said “I love you” to on the show, and she accepted his proposal. Although there was no After The Final Rose special to discuss the status of their relationship, the couple confirmed on Instagram and to People Magazine that they are still happily engaged.

Tayshia and Zac said that the pandemic actually helped keep their relationship secret. Wearing face masks made it easier for them to see each other without attracting attention, and they weren’t allowed to go on dates outside of their homes anyway. This could be a factor that helped the show keep the ending of the season a surprise. However, last season of The Bachelor was unpredictable as well. Peter Weber’s final decision and who he was with after the show wasn’t completely spoiled either. Reality Steve did get the major points of the season right, but some of the details of both seasons were kept under wraps.

But Tayshia and Clare’s season is old news now; Matt James season of The Bachelor starts in just a couple weeks on January 4. The names of the women competing for his heart and a few other small spoilers have been revealed, but Reality Steve definitely has some work to do on this upcoming season. Fans are eager to know who Matt falls for – as its been reported that he does fall in love on the season. We’ll be watching and waiting for the spoilers when they come!
