New Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice artwork replaces final battle villain Doomsday with Darkseid. Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman was the second installment in the DCEU and brought the iconic title characters together for the very first time in a live-action feature film. As the title suggests, Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) spend much of the film battling each other, but the final act pits them (along with Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman) against a newly-created Doomsday, Lex Luthor’s (Jesse Eisenberg) final weapon against the heroes. In the comics, Doomsday has quite the reputation, having been the one to kill Superman in The Death of Superman.

However, many noted that Doomsday’s Batman v Superman appearance fell a bit flat. Not only is he never properly named, the CGI that brought Doomsday to life was a mess. In the end, the battle did result in Superman’s death, but overall, fans had hoped for more when it came to Doomsday. They were given new hope when Snyder confirmed online that the “real Doomsday” still exists within the DCEU, but as much of Snyder’s plans for the franchise have fallen to the wayside, it remains to be seen if he will ever be seen again.

In this piece of fan art, though, Doomsday isn’t the main antagonist of Batman v Superman‘s final battle. Artist Mizuri took one of Batman v Superman‘s best shots and made a major tweak: Darkseid has taken Doomsday’s place. Now it looks like the main trio of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are bracing themselves for a fight against the Apokolips ruler instead of Lex’s science experiment. Check it out down below.

The Trinity v Darkseid Love this shot from Batman v Superman and decided to add in Darkseid! I wonder if we’ll actually get some Justice League v Darkseid action in the Snyder Cut. That would be incredible to watch. Either way, I can’t wait! Enjoy Join me on Patreon for high-res edits, art, process and more!

Darkseid is about to make his own live-action feature film debut in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Snyder always planned to introduce the iconic DC villain in his Justice League, but the theatrical cut that was overseen by Joss Whedon removed him entirely. As a result, fans have been waiting years to see Darkseid get depicted onscreen. Luckily, that will be rectified with the Snyder Cut, which will debut on HBO Max next year.

Once that happens, fans can decide if Darkseid lives up to their expectations, or falls short like Doomsday did for many. Actor Ray Porter has already indicated he’d like to return as Darkseid if the opportunity arose, so the ball is firmly in Warner Bros.’ (and Snyder’s) court. As for true Batman v Superman villain Doomsday, it certainly looks like his time in the DCEU is already over, but things can change in an instant. At this point, DC fans should be prepared for anything.
