Warning! Potential spoilers for the upcoming Robins miniseries.

DC Comics is teasing that Dick Grayson might not actually be Batman’s first Robin. Robins, a limited series starring all DC’s most notable heroes that have donned the Robin mantle, won DC’s Round Robin Competition for the publisher’s next series. Now, more details about the series have been revealed. In an official synopsis for Robins, a new Robin will try to stake a claim as the first hero to become the Boy Wonder.

Recently, DC Comics held a fan-vote competition where readers could select which of 16 comic potential comic book miniseries would be published, with Robins ultimately winning out. The new series will deliver on its name, as it will star some of Batman’s most famous sidekicks. Jason Todd as Red Hood, Dick Grayson as Nightwing, Stephanie Brown as Spoiler, and both Tim Drake and Damian Wayne as Robin are featured in the book. Collaborating on the six-issue series is Tim Seeley and Baldemar Rivas.

In a new synopsis for Robins, DC Comics teases that the collection of former and current Robins will come together and show what it really means to have been (and be) Batman’s trusted sidekick. Additionally, the Robins will face off against an “unknown assailant,” who claims to be the very first Robin ever. While the newest (and possibly oldest) Robin hasn’t been revealed, a 10-page preview for the story might offer hints to who is potentially behind the mask.

It would be a game-changer if Batman had an original Robin that he kept secret from the rest of his former and current sidekicks. It also has to make Dick Grayson feel less special, as he was initially the first hero to become the Boy Wonder. The unknown Robin should throw a wrench into the various Robins’ dynamic while making them question what it really means to be a hero. For Batman’s sake, fans should hope he didn’t hide an original Robin – because that surely would cause more friction between his group.

It’s little surprise Robins won DC’s Round Robin Competition, as readers have been clamoring for a team-up book feature the iconic Batman heroes for a very long time. It seems the miniseries will be filled with multiple highs and lows for each hero – and with the addition of a potentially new Robin, things will likely get even more wild and action-packed. DC’s Robins #1 will come to DC Universe Infinite on October 26 before a physical version arrives at book stores on November 26.
