A leaked list of Battlefield 2042‘s weapons has disappointed fans due to its rather small selection of firearms. The upcoming first-person shooter will take players to a near-future setting and boast a variety of new features, such as the Hazard Zone game mode. A recent Battlefield 2042 beta was reportedly a massive success, giving gamers the opportunity to test out the shooter ahead of its November 19 launch.

Running from October 6 to 9, Battlefield 2042‘s beta gave players an early hands-on experience with DICE’s futuristic title. The beta allowed players to try out the game’s Conquest mode on the map Orbital, which takes place on a rocket launchpad while a missile is primed to fly. The map shows off Battlefield 2042‘s dynamic map events and destruction, as the missile is able to launch mid-match to spread destruction and debris throughout the battlefield. Alongside the exciting Orbital, Battlefield 2042 will boast several other maps once it fully releases on November 19. Additional Battlefield 2042 maps like Breakaway and Discarded will take gamers to wildly different arenas, such as an ice field in Antarctica and a desert oasis in India.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

A report from DualShockers details a leaked Battlefield 2042 screenshot which reveals the game’s seemingly small selection of weapons. The leak comes from Reddit user Aaronfrogger, who apparently gained access to the anticipated first-person shooter after pre-loading the game on Xbox. While they have since been kicked out of the game, Aaronfrogger was able to take several screenshots while inside, including a look at the game’s weapon collection. It appears that Battlefield 2042 only contains 22 different firearms, including a choice of only four assault rifles and two light machine guns. Comments on Aaronfrogger’s Reddit post were critical of the selection, with many fans hoping that more guns will be added before or after launch.

While first-person shooters are often rated based on their weapon selection, Battlefield 2042 will offer additional variety in the form of playable specialists. These character classes will each bring their own tools to combat, allowing players to customize their playstyle and gain unique advantages in battle. Battlefield 2042 recently unveiled several new specialists, with each bringing their own strengths and styles. One class carries a riot shield into action for an impenetrable defense, while another wears a wingsuit to glide through the sky. Healing allies and restocking their ammunition can turn the tide of a difficult battle, while hacking enemies can reveal the position of their forces around them.

Battlefield 2042‘s weapon selection looks to be quite small, especially when compared to rival shooters such as Call of Duty: Vanguard. However, Aaronfrogger was only given short access to the upcoming game, meaning that there could be other weapons not included in the leak. Additional firearms could also be added to the game before its release, or added afterwards as post-launch content. While 22 weapon to choose from is rather small for a modern shooter, Battlefield 2042 may be able to compensate through its unique specialist classes.

Battlefield 2042 will release on November 19 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
