Battlefield 2042 includes the all-new Portal mode, which combines maps and player options from previous titles and allows players to create their own game modes. There are several match times and a large number of both official and community-designed variations of each match available in Portal. Players can choose to build their own game mode from scratch or play any of the already created matches.

Every game mode in Portal can be hosted privately, hosted publically, or joined if there’s an existing server for it. Matches are either Conquest, All-Out-Warfare, Team Deathmatch, Conquest Large, or Rush. Each game type has a unique set of rules and options as well as different maps that can be included in the game mode’s rotation. Maps are available from Battlefield 2042, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 1942 and a combination from each game can be used.

In order to join a match, players can go to the browse tab in Portal mode and either scroll through the available matches or search for a specific server. Some servers will require a password. These are private servers, and the password is set by the host, so players won’t be able to join unless they have the password. If there’s a private match that players want to access, they can go to more information and choose to host the match themselves. It will be the same match type with the same customized rules, but players will be able to host and set the privacy settings themselves.

Finding the Best Matches in Battlefield 2042 Portal

There are a few different options for sorting the various available servers in Battlefield 2042 Portal mode. Sorting by recommended will bring the most popular custom matches to the top of the player’s list. This may change depending on which game modes are being hosted, so players can keep checking back for new game modes to try out. Alternatively, they can find official game types and host or join a match under that tab.

Players can also choose one of four game modes from the Portal main menu, and one of them is a custom match type. The other three are officially made game modes, but these four are officially featured Portal game modes: VIP Fiesta, Battlefield 1942 Classic Conquest, Battlefield Bad Company 2 Rush, and Battlefield 3 Conquest. Every game type can also be modified by going to portal.battlefield.com, or players can completely customize their own game mode.

Battlefield 2042‘s Portal mode offers players new opportunities to express their creative vision for the game or join in with others to test out their custom servers. Players can experience both officially made games, featured modes, and top-rated matches in Portal mode. There are a variety of maps and gear available from previous titles that make Portal mode in Battlefield 2042 a fun and interesting game mode.

Battlefield 2042 is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
