The newest poster for Batwoman season 2 drastically changes Ryan Wilder’s hair. The Arrowverse series is going to look very different when it returns for its sophomore run in just a few weeks. While Ruby Rose starred as the title character in Batwoman season 1 and various Arrowverse crossover events, the actress shocked fans everywhere when she announced last year that she will be departing the show. Her character Kate Kane will disappear with her, leaving the show’s leading role wide open. After some uncertainty, the CW cast Arrowverse newcomer Javicia Leslie as their latest hero.

Leslie will play Ryan Wilder, an original character who is about as different from Kate as one could get. Described as more of a street-level hero, Ryan promises to bring a new spin to Batwoman going forward. Season 2 will premiere on January 17, and in the lead up to its premiere, fans have been granted several looks at Leslie on set. Perhaps the most exciting reveal as that of Leslie in the new Batsuit, which will be notably different from Kate’s costume. The first pictures of Ryan’s suit showed Leslie with naturally curly hair, but that has changed with the arrival of the latest poster.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Touting a “new beginning for Gotham,” Batwoman unveiled a fresh look at Ryan’s heroic getup. Fans will recognize the new suit by now, from the red gauntlets to the different materials making it up. However, Ryan’s curly hair has noticeably disappeared, replaced by a straighter look. Check it out below.

In the original photos, the curly hair style looks to be part of Ryan’s cowl, similar to the red hair that was on Kate’s. However, the above poster doesn’t even look to have curly tresses on its cowl. Odds are, this poster is more of an anomaly; much of the promotional peeks at Batwoman show Ryan’s hair (both with the cowl and without) to have more definition. At the same time, fans probably shouldn’t be too surprised if Ryan straightens her hair at some point in Batwoman season 2.

The plot synopsis for Batwoman‘s season 2 premiere teases a showdown between Ryan and “Bruce Wayne” (Warren Christie), with the villain Hush taking on his face for nefarious purposes. Clearly, Ryan won’t have much time to settle into her role as Batwoman before she’s thrust into a major conflict. At first, she’ll be wearing Kate’s suit, but as she becomes her own hero, she’ll don the one seen above. It’ll be thrilling to see the creation of a brand new hero happen throughout season 2, and fans couldn’t be more excited.

Batwoman season 2 premieres on the CW on January 17.
