Batwomanseason 3 finds the cast expanding, with new friends ready to defend Gotham City and new foes poised to plague the Bat-Team. The Arrowverse series’ already impressive ensemble is all the richer, with several veteran television actors joining the cast. This includes actress Victoria Cartagena, who stands unique as one of the few actors to play a DC Comics character in a series outside the Arrowverse before recreating the role for a superhero series on the CW.

Batwoman season 2 found paroled convict and aspiring martial arts instructor Ryan Wilder undergoing a trial by fire, trying to fill Kate Kane’s cowl after she stumbled across the Bat-Suit. Despite this inauspicious start, Ryan went on to rescue the original Batwoman from the clutches of Black Mask, exposed the corruption of the private security company that framed her for drug dealing, and brought her adoptive mother’s murderer to justice. While Kate Kane gave Ryan her blessing to continue as Batwoman as she went off to search for the missing Bruce Wayne, Batwoman season 2 still came to a close with Gotham City suffering through interesting times and more trouble on the horizon, as it was revealed that the weapons of Batman’s enemies that Bruce Wayne had taken as trophies had been released into the Gotham underworld.

Batwoman season 3 will center around the hunt for these Bat Trophies, but also explore Ryan Wilder’s past as she investigates the possibility that her biological mother is still alive. The new season will also see a new hero rise up to join the vigilantes of Gotham City, as Luke Fox embraces his new life as Batwing. This seems to be a common theme for all the members of the cast of  Batwoman season 3, with most of the characters seeking new directions and struggling with identity issues.

Batwoman Season 3 Returning Cast

Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder/Batwoman: Out on parole and gainfully employed as the day manager of Gotham City’s hottest LGBTQ bar, The Hold Up, when she isn’t patrolling the streets as the new Batwoman, Ryan Wilder enters Batwoman season 3 in a better state of mind than she was when she was introduced into the series last year. Though Ryan has worked hard to overcome her time in prison and secure a better future for herself, there is one aspect of her past that still weighs heavily upon her; the possibility of her biological mother still being alive. Javicia Leslie became a household name after she replaced Ruby Rose as the title character of Batwoman, but she’s also recognized for her performances as Ali Finer in God Friended Me and Paris Duncan in The Family Business.

Rachel Skarsten as Beth Kane/Alice: Twisted by manipulative sociopaths after her abduction as a teenager, Beth Kane’s only solace was a battered copy of Alice In Wonderland. Reinvented as the criminal mastermind Alice, Beth became a dark mirror of her heroic twin sister, Kate, leading her Wonderland Gang in a mad quest for revenge on the establishment she blamed for failing to rescue her. As Batwoman season 3 opens, Alice is still locked up in Arkham Asylum where Ryan Wilder left her, but it has been hinted that Alice will find a new purpose (and possibly redemption) assisting the Bat-Team. Rachel Skarsten is a DC TV alumnus, having played Dinah Lance in the 2002-2003 Birds of Prey series. More recently, she found acclaim playing Elizabeth Tudor in Reign.

Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox/Batwing: Head of Wayne Security and the techie of the Bat-Team, Luke Fox took up a new role in the finale of Batwoman season 2. Discovering an experimental Bat-Suit designed by his father, which was modeled on his childhood sketches of “a Black Batman,” he dubbed Batwing. Luke flew into action to save Mary Hamilton from a drug-crazed psychopath. Batwoman season 3 finds Luke joining Batwoman in her patrols, though he is still struggling to master his new identity and his costume’s technology. Camrus Johnson has previously been seen in the reoccurring role of Torre on Luke Cage. He also played Omar Hassabala in The Sun Is Also A Star.

Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton: Despite being born in the lap of luxury and playing the part of a vapid influencer, medical student Mary Hamilton is far smarter than her social media would indicate. Deducing her stepsister Kate Kane’s secret life as Batwoman, Mary made herself invaluable to the Bat-Team as a medic and medical expert, and was the first person to befriend the new Batwoman. As Batwoman season 3 opens, Mary has legitimized her underground clinic and is on the verge of earning her doctorate, though the absence of her family still weighs heavily upon her. Nicole Kang first found prominence playing Lynn Lieser in the 2018 television series You. She also played Kiki in Orange Is The New Black.

Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore: The first love of Kate Kane’s life, Sophie Moore forsook romance for the sake of her career, fearful that an out lesbian would never be able to advance in law enforcement. Sophie later came to question everything about her life as a detective with Crows Security and ultimately aided the Bat-Team in exposing the corruption of her employer. As Batwoman season 3 opens, Sophie is still struggling to find a new direction for her life, now that Kate Kane and Crows Security are both gone. Meagan Tandy previously played Braeden in the Teen Wolf television series and Allison Pierce in Survivor’s Remorse.

Batwoman Season 3 New Cast & Characters

Robin Givens as Jada Jet: CEO of Jet Industries, Jada Jet has sacrificed much to build her brand in the cutthroat world of Gotham City finance. A good-hearted woman who will go through any ordeal to protect her son, Jada’s biggest regret is the firstborn child she was forced to put up for adoption in her youth. It is speculated that Jada Jet is the new Batwoman Ryan Wilder’s biological mother, whom Ryan had been told all her life was dead. Jada Jet will be played by Robin Givens, who has a long and distinguished career in both film and television. First finding fame as Darlene Merriman in the sitcom Head of the Class, Givens most recently played the role of Mayor Sierra McCoy in Riverdale.

Victoria Cartagena as Renee Montoya: A former police officer who quit the force after she could no longer stomach the infamous corruption in the GCPD, Rene Montoya is now the head of a special “freaks division” tasked with protecting Gotham City from the costumed criminals who once threatened it on a regular basis. Righteous, pragmatic, and openly gay, Rene is determined to clean up Gotham City by any means necessary. Notable as a major figure in the mythology of Gotham City, Rene Montoya was previously played by Victoria Cartagena in Gotham season 1. She will be playing a different variant of Rene Montoya in Batwoman season 3. More recently, Cartagena played Claudia in You, Lourdes in Manifest, and Amanda Doherty in Almost Family.

Nick Creegan as Marquis Jet: A charming playboy who is everything Bruce Wayne pretended to be, Marquis Jet’s devil may care attitude contrasts sharply with his mother’s no-nonsense personality. Nick Creegan is perhaps best known for playing Richie Wheatley, Jr. in Law & Order: Organized Crime. He also played Desmond in the series David Makes Man.

Bridget Regan as Dr. Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy: Possibly the most individually powerful of Batman’s many enemies, Dr. Pamela Isley was a twisted botanist turned eco-terrorist who took on the nom de plume Poison Ivy. Possessing the power to command plants and hasten their growth, Poison Ivy will make her Arrowverse debut in Batwoman season 3 and has been teased to be the season’s primary villain. Bridget Regan is a prolific film and television actor, who previously appeared as Alex Salter in Beauty and the Beast, Dottie Underwood in Agent Carter and Rose in Jane The Virgin.
