Is Brendan Fraser’s reincarnation drama Behind The Curtain Of Night ever being released? Brendan Fraser became a movie star thanks to the huge success of The Mummy in 1999, and in addition to returning for two sequels, he also fronted hits like Journey To The Center Of The Earth. His career entered something of a fallow period following the latter 2008 blockbuster, but he’s made a comeback in recent years due to the success of shows like Doom Patrol.

In 2015 Deadline reported Fraser has joined the cast of Behind The Curtain Of Night. This movie was based on a book from Czech writer/director Dalibor Stach, who has been pronounced dead twice in his life and the story itself followed a man who dies for the second time and journeys through his past, present and future before being revived. He also learns how his karma has shaped his life and even meets God herself, played by Marcia Cross. Dawn Olivieri was also cast in a major role, while Brendan Fraser was set to play a couple of roles.

Word on this Brendan Fraser 2015 project soon went quiet though, so is Behind The Curtain Of Night still being released?

Behind The Curtain Of Night Was Renamed The Secret Of Karma

There were few updates about Behind The Curtain Of Night following 2015, and it essentially seemed to disappear after finishing filming. Of course, it’s not unusual for news on a movie to go quiet while it goes through post-production, but this silence stretched on for a few years.

In 2018 the movie finally re-emerged with a trailer under the new title The Secret Of Karma. The trailer showed off the story’s time-hopping narrative, which included futuristic battles and Brendan Fraser playing duels roles, including Animus, the leader of the most advanced civilization in the galaxy. The trailer’s bizarre blend of tones – from period drama to wacky sci-fi adventure – met with a mixed response.

The Secret Of Karma Is Now Available Online

In 2020 The Secret Of Karma was quietly made available online and can be rented or purchased for $8.99 from Amazon. Reviews for the movie haven’t been kind, however, with the film being compared unfavorably to Cloud Atlas and particular criticism was aimed at its incoherent story, underwhelming CGI and Fraser’s lack of screentime despite being billed as a leading actor.

Another Version Of Behind The Curtain Of Night Might Be Coming

One interesting thing to note about The Secret Of Karma is that Dalibor Stach is now credited as co-director alongside producer Milan Friedrich. The details behind this collaboration are unclear, though curiously, on Stach’s Facebook page and website Astafilm, another version of the film dubbed Dimension is being teased for release in 2021.

Perhaps Dimension is a re-edit that was closer to the author’s original intention for Behind The Curtain Of Night, or it could just be the same version under a new title.
