The return of Below Deck means that fans can expect a new deck crew, and it’s time to share information about one of the season 9 additions, Wes O’Dell. Wes is joining a crew of new faces, aside from Below Deck veterans Eddie Lucas, Rachel Hargrove, and original cast member Captain Lee Rosbach. From his position on the prominent yacht to his credentials that make him a perfect fit for the Below Deck crew, here’s everything there is to know about the fledgling reality star, Wes.

Wes is set to make his reality TV debut on the Below Deck season 9 premiere on October 25. This season of the popular series will document Captain Lee and his crew’s journey in Saint Kitts. Also known as Saint Christopher Island, Saint Kitts is the larger of two Caribbean islands located in the West Indies. Although Wes is one of the 6 new crewmates, he is no stranger to boat life. While Wes has done a good job in terms of keeping his personal life private before he embarks on his career as a reality television personality, there are some things that fans can learn about the newbie’s career and love life before the start of Below Deck season 9.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

According to his Facebook, Wes is from Jacksonville, Florida. Wes started his career sailing in March 2013, when he took on the first mate role at Nightwind II Charters. While working at Nightwind II Charters, Wes would assist with full-day sails and snorkel excursions. In October 2016, Wes evolved from a first mate to a captain. Wes moved from Jacksonville to Saint Thomas, US Virgin Islands, where he captained the New Horizons and Breakaway charters. By April 2018, Wes was a captain at Classic Cruises of Newport. In February 2020, Wes became the owner of the ship he initially worked on, Nightwind II Charters. Currently, Wes owns, captains, and operates the Nightwind II charters from the Virgin Islands.

While his Facebook notes that he is single, the season 9 trailer indicates that Wes might be involved in a Below Deck romance. In the preview for the season, Wes is seen flirting with new stew, Jessica Albert. The two even shared a kiss in the trailer, after Jessica noted, “I could show him a thing or two.” No updates are available on the couple’s relationship as Wes remains quiet online. His IG account is currently set to private. Despite his private status, Wes has accumulated 853 followers on Instagram and he’s shared 190 posts. Hopefully, his public journey on reality television will lead him to let more followers into his social media life.

Overall, there is much to be learned about Wes’s low-profile life. While there’s not a ton of information on his background, one thing that absolutely stands out is his passion for sailing and his ambition to become one of Below Deck‘s best captains. Outside of his love for boating, fans will get to know more about Wes and his background on Below Deck season 9.
