Ashling Lorger joined the crew of Below Deck as a late, last-minute addition. New crew member Avery Russell had to leave the show after only one episode to be with his sick grandmother. Australian Ashling Lorger was brought in to replace Izzy Wouters, who transitioned from a stewardess to Avery’s replacement on the exterior crew. Ashling is the third Australian on the crew this season.

Ashling had a rough start, taking several long flights to get to the Caribbean and losing her luggage along the way. But she pulled herself together and worked hard on the yacht. Unlike many reality stars, she hasn’t shared a lot about herself on social media, leaving fans of Below Deck curious. What else there is to know about the new stew working for long-time Captain Lee Rosbach?

Ashling started her career as a hairdresser and even owned her own business by the age of 19. Despite her success, she longed to travel and started training to work on yachts as a way to see the world while still making an income. After only a year or two of working on a yacht, she was cast in the hit show, putting her age in the mid-twenties now. See photos of one of Ashling’s many adventures since joining the show below:

Unlike some of her castmates, Ashling seemed to take her job seriously and wasn’t interested in jumping into a relationship with anyone she worked with. Though there was much speculation about possible relationships between her and Eddie or her and notorious ladies’ man James, she never had any sort of relationship with either of the men. She also is willing to sacrifice her tips and the happiness of guests in order to keep everyone safe. When two young passengers stayed up late drinking, she cut them off when the situation seemed to be getting out of hand, even knowing that, rather than being thanked for keeping the young men safe, she would probably face the wrath of the parents the next morning.

Fans who want to follow Ashling when she’s not on Below Deck can find her on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, all with the same handle: @ashlinglorger. Given how much she seems to enjoy throwing herself into her work, it’s a safe bet she hasn’t worked on her last yacht, even if her next job isn’t on camera. With so much money to be made (reportedly tax-free!) and the chance to travel more, this seems to be an ideal line of work for her. While there are no reliable reports of her exact net worth, some have speculated it could be as high as $500 thousand.

Given Ashling’s work ethic and decision not to get involved with her male co-workers, she may be welcomed back by Captain Lee for future seasons of Below Deck. But since producers are the ones who pick the crew and they want drama, she may or may not be their first choice. But wherever she ends up, the savvy businesswoman is sure to land on her feet.

Below Deck airs Mondays at 9 pm ET on Bravo.
