Byron Hissey was the chief engineer during Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 1 and continues to work in the field today. While he was on the Bravo series, Bryon mainly stayed out of the drama. As a husband and a father, the engineer wasn’t looking to get too involved with his other crewmates’ antics while filming the show. For the most part, Byron kept to himself in the engineering room.

Bryon, who worked alongside second stew Madison Stalker on BDSY season 1, began his career as an automobile engineer before joining the show. Originally, he spent his days repairing and restoring classic cars in Sydney, Australia. After realizing he needed a change of scenery, he decided to try out the yachting industry. Since then, he’s never looked back and is continuing his career in the field. As the chief engineer, he is able to repair almost anything on the boat. Luckily, Bryon was familiar with Parsifal III, the sailing yacht featured in the series, having worked on it as an engineer for more than five years.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Since appearing on the show, Byron continued to work in the yachting industry, mainly on the Parsifal III sailing yacht operated by Captain Glenn Sheppard on BDSY. According to Byron’s Instagram, the engineer took the sailing yacht all the way from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic Ocean in January after a few seasons. He seemed to have spent some time in the Caribbean, as well as in the Atlantic Ocean close to New York City. Bryon even shared a selfie with the Statue of Liberty behind him and one of him on the Brooklyn Bridge.  He also posted a photo of himself in the middle of Times Square eating a hotdog.

After some time in North America, he headed back to the other side of the world. After working for a few months in the Caribbean and the Atlantic, Byron, who worked with Georgia Grobler on season 1, headed to Spain for a little family time. In July, he shared a photo of him, his wife, and their daughter Saphira with the location tagged as Spain. Judging by his social media, Bryon spent the month of July in Palma De Mallorca, Spain continuing to work on boats with his family by his side. After his work was done, he and his family headed to Cape Town for a much-needed family getaway. On September 6, Bryon shared a series of photos of him, his wife, and his daughter enjoying their time in South Africa.

Even though Bryon wasn’t featured all that much in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 1, he was a father figure to the crew. Byron, who worked with chief stew Jenna MacGillivray, was always there to offer his advice but mainly stayed away from the drama. Now he’s focusing on his work as an engineer and his family. As for appearing on the show once again, it could still happen.
