For the second season, Below Deck Sailing Yacht had a whole new crew, and we’re here to talk about why the season two crew is better than the crew from the first season. The only returning crew member was the popular and experienced Captain Glenn Shephard. While viewers were shocked that no one else from season one was brought on for a second season, they didn’t seem to mind. Now that the show is ten episodes in and ratings are slowly rising, it’s clear that the new cast is a hit.

The Bravo series aired its premiere season in February 2020. Below Deck Sailing Yacht is a spin-off of the original Below Deck series and was followed by the first spin-off, Below Deck Med. The first season starred Captain Glenn, Jenna MacGillivray, Chef Adam Glick, Madison Stalker, Georgia Grobler, Paget Berry, Ciara Duggan, Byron Hissey, Parker McCown, and Christopher Miller. Even though the season featured quite a bit of drama, thanks to fighting between the stewardesses and Jenna and Adam’s romance, producers did not feel that any of the cast members had true staying power. So, they got a whole new crew.

Viewers have been gravitating toward the season two cast members more. The love affair between Jenna and Adam was somewhat captivating, but it drove some viewers crazy to see Jenna get treated so poorly. She thought he loved her. This season, the romances are much more fun and casual. Gary and Sydney hooked up by the end of episode two, and now he’s trying to pursue Alli. Nonetheless, Gary wasn’t leading Sydney or Alli to believe he wanted to be in a relationship, unlike Adam. No one is trying to fall in love like Jenna and Adam were.

The cast for season two also gets along better than the season one crew. During season one, a majority of the crew tended to gang up on Parker because they didn’t seem to think he was doing his job correctly. Instead of trying to help, Paget and Ciara (they got mocked after ending their 9-month engagement) went to Captain Glenn to complain. Gary is having the same issues with Jean-Luc but hasn’t gone to the Captain to gripe about his poor work ethic. Crew members need to have each other’s backs, and the season one crew members looked out for themselves.

Overall, Below Deck Sailing Yacht is much more enjoyable to watch now, compared to the first season. The crew seems to get along great, despite some tension in the galley. There is also the infamous love triangle with Gary, Sydney, and Alli. Plus, this group knows how to have a good time when they have a day off. That’s always fun to watch. Filmed in beautiful Croatia, the second season is impressive for many good reasons.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 9pm EST on Bravo.
