Below Deck: What Happened To Chef Kevin Dobson After Season 7

After Kevin Dobson wrapped Below Deck season 7, he continued working as a chef. During his time on the show, he was often shown butting heads with chief stew Kate Chastain. He believed Kate wasn’t living up to his standards for service and he called her out many times. Kevin was constantly undermining Kate and she didn’t appreciate his attitude.

Kevin was on Kate’s bad side, and he also tangled with Captain Lee Rosbach. During a charter guest dinner that Captain Lee was invited to, Kevin completely forgot that he had to make eight dishes instead of seven. He had Lee sit out for one of them. The captain was understandably unhappy and told Kevin to step it up for the rest of the charter season. While he did, his relationship with Kate remained strained.

According to his @chef_kevin_dobson Instagram page, Kevin is still working tirelessly as a chef. In April 2021, he shared a photo of the sunset in an unknown place, and a yacht water slide was visible. Judging from this photo, Kevin is likely still working in the yacht industry as a chef. However, Kevin, who worked on the Valor with Ashton Pienaar, appears to freelance as a yacht chef. He still has a full-time job in Australia. He can also be found on his YouTube channel, Small Town Cook. The former reality star has shared a number of delicious recipes for no-bake cheesecake, lamb kofta, and green chicken curry. However, it has been more than a year since he added content to his channel. On his website, Chef Kevin Dodson, the native New Zealander also shared a few of his favorite recipes.

Kevin loves to cook and he also loves to fish. In a photo from August 2020 (as shown above), Kevin holds a huge tuna that he’s just caught. In the caption, he wrote, “My first [fish emoji] Yellow Fin Tuna.” Other than a few dishes he created, and a recent fishing trip, Kevin hasn’t been sharing much about his life since he left the Valor in Thailand. For example, Kevin hasn’t shared any photos with his young daughter (whom he mentioned on Below Deck) since his season premiered in October 2019. The chef has been living a low-key life after Bravo fame and is focusing on creating great food. He’s surely also focused on being a good dad to his daughter.

Even though Kevin wasn’t a fan favorite during his time on Below Deck, he was definitely memorable. Now that Kate is no longer working in the yachting industry, maybe Kevin can return as the chef. If he does, there may be less onboard drama with the chief stew. With the new season just around the corner, there is a possibility that he could return to the series. People who want to see Kevin will need to keep their fingers crossed.
