James Hough was introduced to the fans when he joined the series on Below Deck season 8. At the time, James worked on the My Seanna as a deckhand alongside Eddie, Shane Avery, Robert, and Izzy throughout the season. James was a kind and charismatic guy from Northern England who wanted to give the yachting industry a try. Because James was a huge flirt, it landed him in trouble in the past. However, James tried his best to not allow his desires to come in between his job.

After being on the boat for a few days, James Hough found it difficult to connect with his Below Deck crewmates. In fact, he even contemplated whether or not he should leave the ship at one point. Fortunately, things started to pick up for James and he became more comfortable with the crew, especially the second steward Elizabeth Frankini. The pair had a few dalliances on the boat together that not only caused him to get in trouble by chief stewardess Francesa Rubi, but it cost Elizabeth her job.

Since Below Deck season 8 came to an abrupt end, James Hough moved back to his hometown in England. That season had to end abruptly due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and it is likely that James was quarantined after he left the ship. According to his Instagram page, after James finished quarantining, he spent most of his days working out at the gym. In his first image since leaving the My Seanna, James shared a picture of him during his first day back at the gym. “1st day back at the gym in 5 weeks. New home for a while,” he wrote.

Besides his numerous exercising shots, James Hough has also been spending quite a bit of time with his mother now that he is done working on Below Deck. Judging by his social media posts, James is very close to his mother and enjoys spending most of his free time with her. In any case, James had to eventually go back to work and start a new job on a new yacht. In fact, it is possible he already did. On March 2, 2021, James shared a series of photos of himself with the caption, “Off 2 work.” The deckhand disappeared from social media for over a month, then returned on April 7 by sharing a new post. James has since been pretty consistent on social media, as he has been uploading photos of himself having fun in London.

It seems like James has been enjoying his life to the fullest since Below Deck season 8 came to an end. However, he has also been keeping himself busy by working out, spending time with family, and having fun around London. As for whether or not James will make a return for season 9, fans will have to wait and see.
