The Cousins return in the first teaser trailer for Better Call Saul season 6. The silent Cartel hitmen, Leonel and Marco Salamanca, who are more commonly referred to as the Cousins or the Twins, were first introduced during season 3 of Better Call Saul‘s parent series, Breaking Bad. Though their original objective was to enact revenge against Walter White for his role in the death of their cousin, Tuco, they are called off at the last second by Gus Fring, who informs them that DEA Agent Hank Schrader was the man who actually pulled the trigger.

During the parking lot shootout that leaves Hank seriously injured, Marco is killed, and his twin brother Leonel loses both of his legs, though he is also later killed via lethal injection by Mike Ehrmantraut. As a prequel series centering on Walter’s criminal lawyer, Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), the Cousins returned during season 2 of Better Caul Saul and have played prominent roles in the show’s Cartel subplots since. While the final season is set to answer major questions regarding Saul’s origin story and Kim Wexler’s fate, the conflict between Nacha Varga and Lalo Salamanca is also expected to be resolved.

The Salamanca twins will likely be major players in that conflict, and now, the first teaser trailer for Better Call Saul season 6 reveals their return. The promo serves as the first official look at the final season of the AMC series and shows the Cousins arriving on a crime scene (presumably at Lalo’s estate) outfitted in their signature ensembles, which most notably include boots tipped with silver skulls. In Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, the Salamanca twins are portrayed by real-life bothers, Daniel and Luis Moncada. In universe, Leonel and Marco are the nephews of the former Cartel leader, Hector Salamanca, who trained them to be ruthless killers from an early age. Though the two AMC shows mostly focus on their leading characters, Walter White and Saul Goodman, they both feature an array of fleshed-out supporting characters in the Cartel that depict the harsh realities of the underworld drug trade.

Though this trailer does not explicitly reveal a release date, the video is accompanied by a curious caption on Twitter, “Mark your calendars.” Thus, eagled-eyed fans mined the trailer for clues and discovered the letters “D” and “R” laid out on the crime scene as evidence tags, which some have interpreted as April 18 given the letters’ numerical placement in the alphabet. While that may seem like a stretch, Better Call Saul has teased fans with hidden messages like this before, as the first letter of each season 2 episode title can be unscrambled to spell out “FRING’S BACK,” an Easter egg the show’s creators never expected fans to find. Only time will tell if Better Call Saul will return on April 18.
