Hallmark Channel plans to honor Betty White’s legacy with a marathon tribute of The Golden Girls. Remembered for her iconic television role as Rose Nylund in The Golden Girls, White passed away on December 31, 2021, at the age of 99. White was only two and a half weeks away from her 100th birthday, with the tragic cause of death being confirmed as a stroke.

According to Southern Living, Hallmark has scheduled special programming on their television channel to commemorate White’s 100th birthday. On January 17 at midnight, the Hallmark Channel will run a 40-episode marathon of The Golden Girls, featuring the cherished moments of Rose. The Lost Valentine will also premiere at 8 p.m. ET/PT, starring White and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Following the 2011 Hallmark film, the marathon will continue until 5 a.m. ET/PT on January 18.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Simultaneously on the same day of The Golden Girls marathon, a birthday documentary of the actress retitled as Betty White: A Celebration will be featured in select theaters nationwide for one day. Along with the marathon, Hallmark has been participating in the social media event called the “Betty White Challenge,” with fans donating to a local animal shelter or American Humane Society in White’s name on January 17. White was known for being a devoted advocate for animal rights and her persistent commitment to help animals in need, prompting the virtual challenge to raise funds for animal welfare, with Hallmark donating proceeds to the North Shore Animal League America in her honor. Hopefully, her legacy will transcend and inspire others as these events celebrate and honor her life.
