Over the years, the fans have grown to love explosive blindsides by the players competing on Big Brother. The best-ever seasons of Big Brother are all about power struggles, conflicting alliances, and competitive players. This is a game, after all, as well as a reality TV show. As such, the viewers expect – and love to watch – the houseguests lying, betraying, and cheating, as those are all elements that come into play during a televised competition worth $500,000.

With that said, it is often hard for a Big Brother contestant to pull off a major blindside after living in the house for a long time and getting attached to the people surrounding them. It takes a lot of courage to do it, and a lot of planning to execute the blindside. Many times, it is clear to the fans that a houseguest was actually expecting the “blindside” they get. For that reason, it is a lot more entertaining when the viewers can tell that a contestant was genuinely shocked by a true blindside.

3. Janelle Cuts Will (Big Brother 7)

BB legends Janelle Pierzina and Will Kirby had a showmance on Big Brother 7: All-Stars, but what was truly iconic about their relationship was how it ended with a legitimate blindside. During that season, showmances Janelle & Will and Mike Boogie & Erika were the remaining players in the final four. Janelle and Erika weren’t the best of friends, but they eventually realized that Chilltown allies Will and Boogie were simply using their showmances to get their own selves further in the game. Consequently, when Janelle became the final veto holder of the season, she cast the sole vote to take Will out of the game.

2. Dan & Memphis Betray Keesha (Big Brother 10)

The fans kept up with the Renegades alliance between Dan Gheesling and Memphis Garrett throughout Big Brother 10. But while it was clear to the viewers that Dan and Memphis’ final two deal was unbreakable, Keesha Smith legitimately thought that she could trust Memphis and Dan in the game. When the three of them got to the final four with Jerry MacDonald, it felt like a given that Dan and Memphis would take Keesha to the final three. However, that is not what happened. As the final veto holder, Memphis cast the sole vote to evict Keesha from BB10, leaving her shocked, angry, and dismayed.

1. Danielle Uses Veto On Dan, Causing Shane’s Eviction (Big Brother 14)

Danielle Murphree had a crush on Big Brother 14 co-star Shane Meaney all season long, but she actually trusted Dan Gheesling the most in the game. When Danielle won HOH and also became the final veto holder of the season, Dan was sitting on the block with Ian Terry. Dan told Danielle that he wanted to get to the final three with her and Shane, but the truth is that he had a side deal with Ian. Somehow, Dan convinced Danielle to take him off the block and put Shane in his place, which meant that Dan was able to cast the sole vote of the week. He took Shane out, and it was a blindside not only for Shane but also for Danielle.

Big Brother 23 airs Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8pm ET/PT on CBS.
