BIP Canada: Everything To Know About Bartender Kevin Wendt

Kevin Wendt is currently working as the bartender on Bachelor In Paradise Canada, but there is a lot more to him than his amazing cocktail skills. Canadian viewers might remember Kevin when he competed on the first and only season of The Bachelorette Canada. On the show, he vied for the heart of Jasmine Lorimer, a hairstylist who now resides in British Columbia. Kevin and Jasmine quickly fell in love through the process and he proposed to her on the season finale. She accepted the proposal, and the two began their life together after the show aired.

After being engaged for less than a year, however, Kevin and Jasmine decided to go their separate ways. Following their breakup, Kevin began appearing on the American The Bachelor franchise. His first introduction was on Bachelor Winter Games, where he started dating and won the competition with Ashley Iaconetti, who is expecting her first child with Jared Habion. But that relationship didn’t work out either, so Kevin turned to Bachelor in Paradise. On his season, he met Bachelor contestant Astrid Loch and ultimately left the beach together without getting engaged.

Besides being a veteran contestant within Bachelor Nation, Kevin works as a firefighter in Toronto. Before his current career, he worked in the Canadian navy for several years. Kevin knew many people in his circle of friends who had become firefighters and thought that was the natural next step in his career. Although Kevin enjoys his career as a firefighter, he chose to take some time off here and there for a couple of years while competing on several different reality shows in the Bachelor franchise. Kevin, who is engaged to Astrid, ultimately found his person when he appeared on BIP season 5, where he met his now-fiancée Astrid. Even though the couple initially broke up before the end of the season, they rekindled their romance shortly after.

Less than a year after meeting, Astrid packed up her life in the United States and moved to Toronto to be with Kevin. In August 2019, Kevin proposed to Astrid, to which she said yes. The couple was slated to tie the knot in 2020, but the wedding was put on hold due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. While their marriage was put on hold, Kevin and Astrid wanted to at least start a family. Astrid announced she was expecting her first child with the firefighter in May 2021 after a long journey with IVF (via Astrid’s Instagram). Other than welcoming a new baby into their lives, Kevin and Astrid also welcomed a new puppy. They recently recused their second dog Bean, who was found on the streets of Seoul, Korea, by a rescue organization.

Since appearing on The Bachelorette Canda, Kevin’s life has completely changed. Not only is he engaged with a baby on the way, but he is now bartending on the show where he met the love of his life. While his journey in The Bachelor franchise was rough, it was all worth it in the end.
