Sony had developed costumes for both Black Cat and Silver Sable in their scrapped Silver & Black movie. One movie in Sony’s growing collection of live-action Spider-Man spin-offs was supposed to be Silver & Black, which would have focused on the anti-heroes Silver Sable and Black Cat. The film has been stuck in development for several years, leaving fans wondering if they will ever see the characters up on the big screen.

The Spider-Man spin-off had gotten delayed a few times over the years and has also gone through multiple rewrites. Gina Prince-Bythewood had been attached to direct Silver & Black for quite some time but eventually parted ways with Sony to direct the recently released Charlize Theron action flick, The Old GuardSilver & Black isn’t even happening anymore as Black Cat and Silver Sable will both get solo movies, but before that decision was made, it looks like costumes had been developed.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

During an interview with Indiewire about her work on The Old Guard, Prince-Bythewood briefly spoke about Sony’s scrapped Spider-Man project. It was revealed during the interview that Prince-Bythewood worked with many of the film’s departments while developing Silver & Black, including storyboard artists, the VFX team, and location scouters. It was also revealed that she helped develop the costumes for the film, although it is still unknown how far they got into development before the film was scrapped.

The fate of the Silver Sable and Black Cat movies is still unknown, but the last Screen Rant heard from Sony producer Amy Pascal, Sony still had plans for the films. As of late, Sony has given more attention to their other upcoming Spider-Man spin-offs, Morbius and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, making fans wonder if progress is actually being made on Silver Sable’s and Black Cat’s movies. A few months ago, Prince-Bythewood claimed that Black Cat and Silver Sable might appear on a Disney+ series, which puzzled fans since it still isn’t known if the MCU and Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters will remain separate or not.

Black Panther costume designer Ruth E. Carter announced back in 2018 that she had signed on for Silver & Black, but at the time, the film was going through rewrites. With that in mind, there are many stages to development, so there’s really no way to tell how far she and Prince-Bythewood actually got. Spider-Man fans would no doubt love to see what they had in mind, especially since Prince-Bythewood was aiming to make an edgier superhero blockbuster. However, the designs may never surface until Sony decides what they are doing with their Black Cat and Silver Sable films.
