Black Panther star Winston Duke realizes Star Wars‘ Boba Fett uses a similar weapon to M’Baku and proposes a trade between franchises. After appearing in a small role in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Duke’s next MCU appearance will arrive in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever later this year. He’ll once again play stubborn Jabari leader M’Baku, and reports indicate he’ll have a bigger role in the film. Black Panther 2 is set to premiere in November, though production has been beset by more than a few delays since it began last summer. The film reportedly has only a few weeks left.

As Marvel fans wait for the next project in the mega-franchise to arrive (which is Moon Knight in March), those who enjoy Star Wars are occupied with the ongoing Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett. The Mandalorian spin-off kicked off at the very end of 2021 and features Temuera Morrison in his latest appearance as the fan favorite Boba Fett, back after his apparent death in Return of the JediThe Book of Boba Fett follows his attempts to take over Tatooine’s criminal underworld.

It turns out that Duke is a bit of a Boba Fett fan, and while watching the Disney+ series, he noticed something pretty interesting. Duke shared side-by-side pictures of Fett and M’Baku and revealed they use the same weapon. “Watching @bobafett use M’baku’s knob kerrie…” he wrote before offering up a great suggestion: “[I] think that means I should get to use a light saber…It’s only fair!” He even tagged Star Wars in his post, but no word if the powers that be wish to make his dream come true.

Star Wars and the MCU have a lot in common, from their stars to their parent company (Disney, of course). This might be the first time two characters from these franchises appear to share a weapon, though the mileage on that statement might vary. What’s clear is that no one in the MCU has gotten to pull out a lightsaber just yet, though Duke is interested enough to ask. Black Panther 2 would be a wild ride of M’Baku could utilize a lightsaber during a battle with a villain.

Of course, it isn’t yet clear who Black Panther 2‘s villain will be. Narcos: Mexico star Tenoch Huerta was reportedly cast as a villain back in November 2020, but his exact role has yet to be revealed. Fans have their theories, from Namor the Sub-Mariner to Attuna. One thing is clear: This villain is going to have big shoes to fill, coming after Black Pather‘s Killmonger. Perhaps M’Baku really does need a lightsaber to take down whoever the mystery bad guy will be.
