It’s taken a lot longer than anyone could have predicted, but MCU’s Black Widow is finally set for release. The movie was filmed over two years ago, but a combination of external factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic and Disney’s own hope for cinemas to reopen has meant that its actual release has been delayed this long.

Now that the film’s release is confirmed to be July 9, 2021, fans have made use of memes as a way to demonstrate their levels of hype. These are especially hilarious since they poke fun at fans’ mannerisms like their reactions over the release date reveal and their response over the promotional material. All in all, it’s really a celebration for the long time MCU fans have spent waiting for Black Widow.

10 Isn’t It About Time Already?

It looks the Black Widow movie just can’t catch a break since the release date has been delayed so many times. If things had gone according to plan, the movie would have already been more than a year old by the time of its eventual release.

To this end, this fan thinks there’s a whole Black Widow saga going on seeing as it’s the fourth entry in this long line of delays. Fans can only hope this is the final “sequel” to the ongoing drama surrounding the movie’s release.

9 The Perfect Example Of Throwing A Bone

The MCU fanbase was left to rely on fan theories for the Black Widow movie due to the number of delays. It seems as if the studio realized just how long viewers have been waiting for and decided to give them a bonus by releasing trailers for both Black Widow and the Loki series.

While trailers are a far cry from the final product, it’s certainly a good way to keep fans happy long enough for them to wait just a little bit more for the release dates to arrive.

8 That’s How You Break The Internet

It’s become customary for Twitter to blow up after the release of every episode of a Disney+ series. It’s not difficult to imagine the frenzy people will be in when Black Widow will release the same day that an episode of Loki will.

Both titular characters are fan-favorites and viewers and likely to storm Twitter with their reactions over these releases. It’ll certainly be quite the sight to see millions of people losing it on the internet.

7 If Only…

According to this fan, the Black Widow movie will not only bring a different side of Natasha but could even bring in world peace if the film were to release in May.

Fans have waited years for the movie to come out what with so many teases over its release and the many delays that have followed since. Perhaps pushing the premiere up by a couple of months may indeed be a setup for world peace.

6 That’s Just Not Fair

It doesn’t matter that Iron Man was in the MCU for as many as eleven years before his demise as fans still wanted him to be in the series for longer. It’s been announced that Tony will appear in Black Widow since this is a prequel but it’s not clear in what capacity.

Some have speculated that the only footage of him will be a recap of his death, which is an event nobody really wants to revisit.

5 Something’s Not Right

The trailer for Black Widow answered one of the long-running questions about the character’s parentage, with Alexei Shostakov confirmed as her father-figure. However, most fans have been fixated on David Harbour’s hairstyle in that scene.

To this end, the creator of this meme has joked about confusing Harbour among the actresses of Black Widow by pretending they’ve accidentally included him in the credits. It remains to be seen how the character comes across in the movie, but Harbour’s wig has already won him some fans.

4 Awesomeness Overload

Most have agreed that it would be a mistake if Hawkeye isn’t acknowledged in Black Widow, but it seems as if it’s something people shouldn’t worry about. This is due to Hawkeye actress Hailee Steinfeld’s promotion of Black Widow’s trailer.

It’s been interpreted as a sign of Hawkeye’s connection with the movie, especially since Steinfeld tagged Black Widow actress Florence Pugh as well. Going by this course of events, it’s likely that the new Hawkeye and Black Widow will be interacting.

3 Spoiling The Party

The main reason why Black Widow was continuously delayed was due to Disney’s reluctance to release it on home media. However, the unlikely landscape that comes with the ongoing pandemic has meant that the movie will be released simultaneously on Disney+ as well.

In many ways, this can be seen as the streaming service spoiling the party for cinemagoers since the experience of watching it in a theater has been compromised.

2 At Least They Admit It

The last time that the MCU fanbase had strong reactions was for the release of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The trailer for Black Widow has further proven that MCU media will always be hyped no matter the circumstances surrounding them.

The detractors of Black Widow claimed that the movie’s delays had caused a lack of interest amongst the fanbase due to the constant bait-and-switch over its release. However, the instant craze for the release of its trailer has led those same critics to admit that they were very wrong.

1 Easy Way For Nostalgia

Even if the entire trailer didn’t do its job at hyping fans up, the title sequence most certainly would have. That’s due to the use of the Avengers theme song, which was given a Russian twist as a way of acknowledging Black Widow’s background.

Just the sound of this theme should be enough to leave no doubt that this is a movie about one of the original six Avengers and that’s a realization that’s sent this particular fan into absolute hype mode.
