A new piece of Hawkeye-inspired fan art has imagined an adorable interaction between Clint Barton’s daughter and Natasha Romanoff. Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton recently made his small-screen debut in Disney+’s newest Marvel series, Hawkeye, in which the Veteran-Avenger teamed up with young archer Kate Bishop (played by Hailee Steinfeld) to take on a number of challenges that threatened his chances of making it home in time to spend Christmas with his family. The series also saw Florence Pugh return as Yelena Belova, Natasha’s sister, with a number of the episodes touching on Barton’s relationship with Romanoff and the deep familial love that he held for her.

Natasha and Clint’s relationship has been well documented across the MCU ever since fans first saw them fight alongside each other onscreen during the battle of New York in 2012’s The Avengers. The films have frequently referenced one particular mission that took place in Budapest, which became an ongoing joke amongst fans as the events of the assignment had always remained a mystery. Last year’s release of Black Widow changed that, however, as Natasha provided some long-awaited context to this pivotal moment in their relationship. The pair’s friendship came to a devastating conclusion in Avengers: Endgame, after both Natasha and Clint fought off each other’s attempts to sacrifice themselves on Vormir, a forfeit that would ultimately lead to them retrieving the Soul Stone and reversing the devastating effects of Thanos’ snap.

Now, an adorable new piece of fan art has imagined a sweet interaction between Natasha and Clint’s baby daughter. The sweet art, created by artist Rachel Hoo, shows Clint offering his daughter, Lila, out to Natasha for her to hold. The next panel shows Natasha appearing rather reluctant stating “I don’t do babies,” however she can then be seen warming to the child, with the subsequent panels showing Natasha affectionately cuddling up to Lila. The fan art quickly garnered a lot of likes, with many calling it “adorable.”  Check out the art below.

The events of Avengers: Age of Ultron revealed that Natasha shared a somewhat close relationship with Barton’s family, with his daughter even affectionately referring to her as “Aunty Nat” after the pair’s fellow Avengers are first introduced to the children, alongside his wife, Laura (played by Linda Cardellini). Both Clint’s family and the grief that he endured following Natasha’s untimely death became two of the central themes within the Hawkeye series. While Natasha was only seen alongside Clint’s family within the MCU once, various conversations within subsequent films have alluded to Natasha and Clint’s lives having been deeply interwoven in a number of ways.

While some fans may have been hoping to see more of Clint and Natasha’s relationship one day, perhaps through the medium of flashbacks, it was reported last year that Marvel currently have no plans for any future cameos from Black Widow herself, so any real-life iterations of Hoo’s fan art are unfortunately not too likely to come to fruition. However, with both Clint and Yelena set on keeping Natasha’s legacy alive, and with the pair having reconciled their differences in the final episode of Hawkeye, it might not be too long until Yelena gets an invitation to the next Barton family dinner.
