Adult animated sitcom Bless the Harts has officially been canceled after a two season run on Fox. The show follows a Southern family – single mom Jenny, along with her daughter, boyfriend, and mother – that always seems to be struggling to make ends meet. However, they come to realize they are rich in the ways that matter. The show’s creator, Emily Spivey, hails from SNL as a writer from 2001-2010. She drew inspiration for the series from King of the Hill as well as her upbringing in North Carolina. Bless the Harts is stacked with an all-star cast including Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jillian Bell, and Ike Barinholtz.

TVLine confirms season 2 will be the last for Bless the Harts. The show has been airing on Fox as a part of its Animation Domination lineup on Sunday nights. Out of all those series, Bless the Harts continues to have the lowest ratings, which is likely the reason for the show’s downfall. Despite the cancellation, season 2 will continue to air up until the series finale, which is expected to hit in May.

Even though Bless the Harts has the lowest ratings, it faces some tough competition on Animation Domination Sundays. The other adult animated series that air during that time include The Simpsons, FamilyGuy, and Bob’s Burgers. Some of those series have been at the top of the adult animated game for decades. It would take an out-of-this-world show to stand out among them. At the very least, hopefully the series finale of Bless the Harts is satisfying for those who enjoy the show.
