Blindspot was a show that many may have overlooked during its remarkable five-year run on NBC. The reason remarkable is used is solely based on its storyline. A female shows up in a duffel bag in NYC with no memory, is handed a gun, and let loose on the world. In a world full of criminals, secrets, death, and double-crosses, it was the characters of Blindspot who drove the show.

Was it the backstory of Jane that pulled viewers in? Did Tasha appeal to the stronger crowd of determined women? Did the comedic side of Rich make the show watchable, or was it the genius/evil side of Roman that drew fans in?

10 Madeline Burke

Madeline is cold-hearted and came out of nowhere to become head of the New York Division of the FBI. While that storyline was viewed as was poor writing, something good did come of it. Madeline positioned herself as the top “baddie” for the team to contend with. Madeline wanted to take the FBI down due to personal reasons. Madeline, unlike some of the other characters, was never liked. From the start, everything about her screamed evil.

How does a woman torture her own son just to prove a point? Madeline has blood on her hands even though she never did the crime herself.

9 Shepherd

Shepherd was the original “baddie” on Blindspot. Soon as Jane aka Remi emerged from that duffel bag in Times Square, viewers wanted to know how and why? The answer to that was her mother. Shepherd was elusive to the FBI but flashbacks showed just how ruthless she was behind the scenes.

As with most “baddies”, Shepherd believed that she was trying to change the world with her antics. She took two orphan kids, raised them as her own, and played the ultimate mind game on them.

8 Edgar Reed

On a team with characters willing to bend the rules just a bit, Edgar Reade was the opposite, unless it came to Tasha. Reade rose up the ranks by default but being a true leader was never his thing. Reade was as clean-cut as they come and for that, he was never a fan favorite. Reade began as one of the team but as his title grew, he became distant from the rest of his peers.

His love for Tasha was real but Reade always struggled to make the tough decisions. His death sent shockwaves through the Blindspot community but it never reached the point where it was as heartbreaking as if it was Rich or Patterson who didn’t make it to the end.

7 Matthew Weitz

Weitz was never the one to be trusted. Weitz was self-absorbed which did not fit into how the team worked. From the beginning, Weitz and the team were at odds. However, when giving the chance to make the ultimate sacrifice, Weitz gave his life to protect Weller and the Blindspot team. He earned his stripes but not enough to be mentioned as a top likable character.

His war with Madeline was just as important as anyone in the last season. Weitz recruited Afreen to help him but even with her backing, Weitz still tried to run.

6 Kurt Weller

Kurt Weller was the leader of his team and he did so with a heavy hand. Well, that was until Jane Doe became involved. From there, Weller softened but did he soften too much. Weller in the early stages of Blindspot wasn’t as likable as he was by the time the show ended. Not a bad character at all but he was blinded by love.

There were too many moments where Weller couldn’t see things that were right in front of him regarding Jane due to matters of the heart. In all fairness, Weller went from a character who didn’t care about what others thought to morphing into one who cared too much.

5 Tasha Zapata

Tasha is another character in which viewers found themselves confused. With Tasha, it was always a should she be trusted debate? Everyone has made their fair share of mistakes but Tasha just kept making hers. She’s hard-nosed and determined. However, by being that way, she missed out on major milestones in her life.

Although she did give birth to Reade’s child, even that came too late as Tasha was too busy focusing on a career. She was forced to live with regret but her likability wavered throughout the seasons. Fans felt more connected to her in Season 5 after Reade’s death.

4 Jane Doe

Jane Doe was the central figure of Blindspot; a woman with an erased memory who takes over the FBI and falls in love with the lead agent. Jane is ruthless in combat but the memory loss took her down a dark path at times. When Remi re-emerged it showed viewers just how great the Remi character would have been. Jane was confused the entire series.

Her actions were admirable at best as she was the one willing to take the big hit for the team. The reason Jane is not listed as the most likable character is that she never took lead until the final season. It was always her time to shine and she stood in the background as if she was scared to assert herself.

3 Patterson

The original “geek” member of the NYC FBI Office. Patterson stayed mostly in the lab in the early stages. But as her storyline picked up, so did her insolvent in the field. Patterson gained the empathy of the audience due to her heartbreak. She lost one love interest because of secrets she kept then lost another one when it was revealed that Borden was a double agent.

The team of Patterson and Rich kept the show light with their Rom-Com type of back and forth friendly squabbling. Patterson became a hard shell to crack in the last two season and rightfully so.

2 Roman

If Madeline wasn’t the top villain in Blindspot, then that honor will have to go to Roman. What made Roman so unique was his ability to help the team while hurting them at the same time. Roman was a master of illusion and mind games. But still, fans of Blindspot was torn when it came to their true feelings toward Roman.

He was driven by pain. He wanted his sister Remi back but understood the bigger picture. He did help take down bad guys but he also did more damage than. As a villain, Roman is still a likable character because he pushed the envelope and was one viewers could identify with. His death is still considered one of the best episodes of Blindspot.

1 Rich Dot Com

Rich Dot Com provided comic relief to a cast that was strictly drama and seriousness. Rich came on-board to be sort of a Confidential Informant. His character became too valuable to just cast aside and he became a series regular. In the beginning, Rich was not well-liked by anybody. However, he grew on the audience with his quirks and sayings.

For a person not carrying a gun nor out in the field, Rich became a valuable member of the team with his connections to the Dark World and their criminal dealings. Rich is an odd character but he was just what Blindspot needed.
