The team behind Blue’s Clues has released a fun new music video celebrating the show’s 25th anniversary. Blue’s Clues premiered on Nick Jr. in September 1996. The show follows the spotted dog Blue and her human owner, who tries to solve clues that reveal what Blue wants to do that day. Blue’s Clues was the first show intended for preschoolers to use cutout animation, developing a unique visual style apart from other programs.

Steve Burns hosted Blue’s Clues from 1996 to 2002 until his character, also named Steve, left for college. For his efforts, Burns took home a Daytime Emmy. The character’s younger brother Joe, played by Donovan Patton, took over hosting duties for seasons five and six. In 2019 Nickelodeon revived the series with a new name, titled Blue’s Clues & You! Josh Dela Cruz hosts, with his character intended to be Steve and Joe’s cousin.

Now, to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary, the show has released a YouTube video starring all three hosts. Set to some kaleidoscopic visuals, the actors cover “Blue” by Eiffel 65, featuring some vocal stylings from Blue herself. Original Blue’s Clues fans will remember Eiffel 65’s massive hit, which was released in 1998. The actors change the lyrics to celebrate the precocious pup: “So listen up here’s a story about a little puppy that lives in a blue world.” Check out the full video below:

The new video comes only a few weeks after Steve Burns returned to the spotlight. Earlier this month, Burns released a heartwarming video on Twitter addressing his now-adult audience. In his signature green shirt, Steve discussed his abrupt departure from the show and all he and his viewers have been through in twenty-five years. The video instantly went viral, pulling at the heartstrings of many former Blue’s Clues fans.

The latest Blue’s Clues anniversary video seems to be primarily targeting its millennial audience as well, given the nostalgic angle and the Eiffel 65 soundtrack. Blue’s Clues isn’t the only series that is targeting the millennial demographic. There have been other attempts to revive shows from the early 2000s, such as the ill-fated Lizzie McGuire reboot and the iCarly revival that was renewed for a second season back in July. Whether Steve will stick around for more Blue’s Clues anniversary hijinks remains to be seen, but fans need only follow the clues to find out.
