New Funko Pop! figures from Deadpool 2 have been revealed, including one of the title character dressed up as Bob Ross. Promotion for the sequel has been appropriately bizarre at times, with uniquely zany viral marketing campaigns building more anticipation for it while revealing very little in the way of details. But fans have at least gotten their first look at an official Deadpool 2 trailer at the start of February, just over three months before its May 18 release date.

You’ll also be treated to the Deadpool 2 trailer when you go see Black Panther, along with most theatergoers across the world upon its release. The trailer delivered the same kind of tongue-firmly-in-cheek humor and explosive action that is to be expected in the highly anticipated sequel, and also gave the best looks yet at new supporting characters like Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz). But even then, the trailer was much more by-the-numbers than the teaser trailer that debuted in November. The one that featured Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) in a parody of Bob Ross’ classic show, The Joy of Painting.

And now, Deadpool’s homage to Ross is being immortalized in the form of a brand-new Funko Pop! vinyl collectible figure. It was revealed on the Funko website as part of Toy Fair New York. Another Funko blog post revealed some more traditional Funko Pop! figures of Cable and Domino, as well as Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand). Interestingly enough, the Domino figure looks more like the comic book version of the character than the way Beetz has appeared. But it makes sense, since it’s the first time the character has appeared as a Funko Pop! figure at all. Of course, it’s far from the first Funko figure for Deadpool himself – but certainly the first time he’s appeared as his Bob Ross-inspired alter ego, “Ross Bobart”.

It’s likely that this is far from the last time Funko releases a line of collectibles inspired by Deadpool 2. Domino needs a figure that looks more like Beetz, while the titular antihero deserves a new Funko Pop! that looks less like Bob Ross. But it’s still an amusing connection to that original teaser, which also sneakily revealed Mister Sinister as the villain – and included plenty of movie references and an outrageous amount of innuendo.

Amazingly, the Deadpool-Bob Ross connection goes back over a year from a mysterious Ryan Reynolds tweet. And this new Funko Pop! figure can’t be the culmination of Deadpool 2’s strange obsession with the iconic artist. It’s quite possible that a payoff is coming in the actual movie in some fashion. And even if it doesn’t, this probably isn’t the last of the Deadpool 2 collectibles anyway. But you can reasonably expect that this won’t be the last time that Deadpool and Ross come together in hilarious fashion.
