Fans of the late Bob Saget might be surprised to know that there was more to him than just being Danny Tanner on Full House, (a role he reprised for the sequel series Fuller House). The host of America’s Funniest Videos, and a talented stand-up comedic, was known, ironically, for his foul mouth most of all. And, interestingly, while the two aforementioned roles are his most known on-screen ones, neither ranks among his top ones, according to review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.

This, however, is only because there isn’t a score for either show. Assuming they were scored on the site, chances are both would rank among his top-five roles. Indeed, IMDB.com ranks Full House a 6.8 and America’s Funniest Home Videos a 6.2. Nonetheless, eliminating these two prominent roles allows for shedding light on some of the actor’s lesser-known TV appearances.

8 Super Fun Night – 32%

Saget did not have a main role in this ABC sitcom that starred Rebel Wilson – who first broke onto the scene in Bridesmaids, which ranks among the funniest movies to watch from the 2010s. She, along with Lauren Ash and Liza Lapira, played three single woman who always get together on Friday evenings, dubbing it “Friday Fun Night.”

Saget appeared in one episode entitled “Cookie Prom” as a character named Porter Warner, a hotshot attorney who tells Kimmie (Wilson) that she needs to act more professionally. While it wasn’t a big role, nor was the show well received (it was canceled after the first season) it still ranks among Saget’s best roles.

7 Law & Order: LA – 59%

One of many spin-offs of the popular police procedural show, Law & Order: LA only lasted a single season from 2010-2011 and starred Skeet Ulrich, Megan Boone, Regina Hall, and Terrence Howard. As the name implied, the series, which focused on both the policing and legal aspects of various cases, was set in Los Angeles.

Saget is one of many actors who appeared on the show, playing a character named Adam Brennan in the episode “Van Nuys.” He also appeared on the 8th season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which remains one of the longest-running primetime TV shows, in an episode called “Choreographed.” There, he played a character named Glenn Cheales.

6 The Naked Truth – 64%

Back in 1995, right after Full House ended, Saget had a guest role on this sitcom, which lasted three seasons. His character is only credited as “unknown.”

The show itself, however, featured a who’s who of actors from the decade, headed up by Tea Leoni, a talented photographer who, following a nasty divorce from her rich and powerful husband, ends up working for a sleazy tabloid magazine. The series also starred Holland Taylor and counted actors like Tim Curry, George Wendt, Mark Tyler Moore, and George Segal among its cast as well.

5 Entourage – 66%

Airing from 2004 to 2011, Entourage was loosely based on the real-life of Mark Wahlberg, who, after becoming famous, enlisted his close childhood friends to work for him and share in his newfound riches. On the show, Vincent Chase hits it big as an actor and brings his two best friends and older half-brother along for the ride.

Saget actually appeared in several episodes throughout the show’s run playing an exaggerated version of himself. In one cameo, he is Vince’s new next-door neighbor who presents the guys with everything from a DVD box set of Full House to muffins during their odd interactions with one another.

4 Grandfathered – 71%

Saget guest starred as a character named Ronnie on Grandfathered, which ran for one season from 2015-2016. The show starred Saget’s former Full House co-star John Stamos as Jimmy, a 50-year-old bachelor whose life is turned upside down when he learns that he has not only a son, but also a granddaughter.

Appearing in both the premiere episode as well as another episode on the short-lived series, Ronnie is Jimmiy’s long-time best friend who tries to coax Jimmy back into his bad boy days against Jimmy’s efforts to become a more responsible person and father. The pair were actually friends in real life, one of many cool things about John Stamos that fans might not know.

3 Bosom Buddies – 78%

Another role only credited as “unknown,” Saget guest starred on this series back in 1981, years before he scored the role of Danny Tanner on Full House that would make him a household name. The show starred Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari as two men who decide to disguise themselves as women in order to rent an apartment.

The only thing known is that Saget appeared in an episode called “The Show Must Go On” from the first season of the show. The plot in the episode was the two men taking jobs bussing tables to help out a friend who is an aspiring singer.

2 How I Met Your Mother – 84%

Through its entire run, while Saget was never seen in this popular sitcom, he was integral to the story. Saget was the voice of the future Ted Mosby who narrated every episode of the nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother from 2005-2014. Ted had some quirks on How I Met Your Mother, and Saget captured them perfectly in the 20+ years later version of him.

In every episode, Saget spoke to his now teenage children in the year 2030, recalling the story of how he met their mother. He would begin each entry with “kids,” then proceed to tell a long-winded story about a series of events that he would describe in detail, ending with whatever lesson Ted learned after, seemingly no closer to actually getting to the point.

1 Louie – 93%

Appearing in the second season of this sitcom in 2011 as himself, Saget played the role of an actor playing Louie’s best friend in a stereotypical sitcom about him. The idea, in true meta fashion, was that the show within the show was a parody of another Louie C.K. show, Lucky Louie.

The episode of Louie was called “Oh Louie/Tickets,” and it also featured Dane Cook. The focus of the episode was Louie recalling past failures in his career and trying to secure concert tickets for his daughter. Over the course of its run, Louie also starred Pamela Adlon, Ricky Gervais, and Susan Kelechi Watson.
