BoJack Horseman season 5 is finally on Netflix, bringing back the incredible voice cast (including several surprise returns), as well as some new characters and celebrity guests. The show has always stood apart for the range of talent it gets in every level of the series, and the new run is no different.

What is different in BoJack Horseman season 5 is the mental state of its main character. BoJack is the star of new streaming series Philbert, a hard-boiled detective show riffing on many a Peak TV critical darling (most pointedly True Detective), something that gives him a rare sense of stability. However, that only leads to introspection and the dark secrets of his past bubble up. This happens as Todd climbs the corporate ranks, Diane and Mr. Peanutbutter deal with separation while working on the same show, and Princess Carolyn juggles the professional and personal. It’s a season about relationships and the lines between our different lives.
