Warning: includes a preview for Blue and Gold #1!

In a preview for Blue and Gold #1, DC Comics just revealed that Booster Gold’s fans are pretty certain that any given mission will be his last. Booster Gold is a time-traveling hero, known as a glory-seeker. In his new series, where he stars alongside Blue Beetle, Booster Gold has become a social media influencer. If any DC hero were to become obsessed with the power of the internet it would be Booster Gold, who is desperate to regain his place in the spotlight. Social media is just the perfect place to attract the public’s attention in today’s society.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Blue and Gold marks Booster Gold and Blue Beetle’s big return to DC Comics. Finally, getting their own book, just as Booster Gold would want. Recently, a future version of the two characters appeared and played a big role in Future State. That person is none other than Gold Beetle, a descendant of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. Additionally, Gold Beetle made an appearance in a recent issue of The Flash, confirming that they are also a part of the Infinite Frontier world.

Dan Jurgens, creator of Booster Gold, in an interview with Nerdist has released some new preview pages for the first issue of this new series. Additionally, Jurgens revealed some extra details about the direction of Blue and Gold. “The idea of an ‘influencer’ fits Booster perfectly, as do many aspects of social media.” He goes on to further state that “the world of today was MADE for Booster Gold.” It’s entirely true that Booster Gold would be the one hero to live stream and monetize his superhero duties. However, fans aren’t impressed with Booster Gold’s actions as he struggles to defeat his city’s latest threat, with many people in his chat roasting his every move. Check out the previews below:

Throughout the preview pages, Booster Gold’s social media followers constantly comment on his ability to be a superhero. Most of them are certain that he is going to die, “end of humanity if he’s all we got.” Additionally, his fans regularly bring up the Justice League, highlighting that he is perceived as a lesser hero than everyone else. It’s extremely meta that his fans are roasting him because in a way it can be seen as DC and Jurgens demolishing his ability to be a great hero. Despite all of this, Booster continues to put on a show, ignoring the comments sent his way.

Even though Booster Gold proves that he has more power than a lot of people think, he still fails to swiftly take down the threat. It’s possible that the series is getting ready to advance Booster Gold into something greater. Perhaps he will learn from Blue Beetle‘s example, teaming up with him could give Booster a new perspective on his heroic ways. As of now, Booster Gold is still an arrogant hero who values money and attention over the key principles of what makes a great hero. He should take a page out of Superman’s book. Blue and Gold #1 releases on July 20.
