Borderlands 3 is filled to the brim with crazy weapons littered everywhere. Over 160 different legendary guns and bombs are ripe for the taking from the planets that inhabit the base game. With the recent release of Moxxi’s Heist of The Handsome Jack DLC, Gearbox Entertainment has added in 18 more legendary weapons. One of these new additions is the Lucky 7 pistol. This gun seems like a simple pistol at first glance but holds a secret perk that can be devastating for the people of Pandora and beyond.

The Lucky 7 pistol holds a secret slot machine inside of it. Every time you reload, the gun will randomly assign a special perk to the gun. As with most legendary weapons, there are multiple ways to find the pistol. This guide will give you the tips needed to maximize your chances of obtaining one of the most random and fun pistols of the entire series.

Locating the Lucky 7 Pistol in Borderlands 3

Luckily, the Lucky 7 legendary pistol is mixed in with the rest of the legendary drops inside of Moxxi’s Heist of The Handsome Jack DLC. So there is always a chance that the gun will randomly spawn in any loot box or from a downed enemy. To really guarantee this pistol though you’ll need to head over to Scraptrap Prime, a boss during the One Man’s Treasure mission. Scraptrap has the highest percentage to drop the Lucky 7.

Defeating Scraptrap is pretty straight forward, there’s nothing special to him. Keep yourself at a distance and unload on him. Once defeated, he will rain down his loot with a high percentage to get the Lucky 7 pistol. If the gun wasn’t dropped then simply let his little claptraps kill you. The reload will not only respawn Scraptrap Prime but his original loot drop will also be all over the ground, this creates a great farming spot in-game for a fairly easy boss.

Borderlands 3 Lucky 7 Pistol Stats

Overall, the Lucky 7 pistol isn’t anything to write home about. Its stats are pretty much on par with any other basic pistol. There will always be a bonus to critical hit damage and other perks can be randomly added. Where the pistol proves to be different is in it’s “O Fortuna” perk. This perk will spin a small slot machine on the side of the gun every time you reload. Whatever the reels land on will be an extra bonus to the gun itself. The best part is that the perks can stack, eventually creating a legendary pistol that will devastate any enemy in the way.

Lady Luck is on Your Side in Borderlands 3

The randomized slot machine is easy enough to grasp once you know what each reel does. Here’s a breakdown of the possible outcomes for each reload:

  • Crosshair: All shots in the magazine deal critical hits regardless of aim, piercing the enemy and ricochets.
  • Bullets: The weapon is fired in full-automatic mode with an increased fire rate.
  • Fire: All shots in the magazine deal elemental damage.
  • Mushroom Cloud: All shots fire explosive rounds with a blast radius.
  • Number 7: The gun fires seven projectiles in the shape of a 7.

There is always a possibility of multiple outcomes stacking and creating a crazy version of the Lucky 7 Pistol. There is also a chance of nothing at all happening, which makes the gun just a random, fun pistol to play with. Now head out into the world with your new Lucky 7 pistol and give Handsome Jack a run for his money.

Borderlands 3 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
