In Borderlands 3, each DLC brings with it a loaded handful of new weapons and equipment players can use to create devastating effects for demolishing the Bandits and Psychos of the Borderlands. The latest addition Pysho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck gives players many COV themed weapons and a few Legendary weapons that will hopefully replace some that are already very proficient in the current meta pool. This guide will show players how to obtain the Legendary Convergence Shotgun, and talk about some of its features.

Hyperion is one of many weapons manufacturers in Borderlands 3 and the Convergence Shotgun is one of their inventions. Hyperion guns have a unique perk of providing extra front loading shields for players when aiming down sights with their weapons, as well as increased accuracy and stability. In Borderlands 2 these weapons had a longer fire time requirement before these perks kicked in but in Borderlands 3 they’re quick to shoot straight quite faithfully. Hyperion shotguns tend to have larger clips and moderate to high damage outputs. This shotgun is somewhat like a distant cousin to the Conference Call shotgun; the Convergence produces a similar multiplying effect.

How to get the Convergence Shotgun in Borderlands 3

The convergence shotgun is new to Borderlands 3, an addition brought about by the Fantastic Fustercluck. Journeying into Krieg’s mind, players will find the answer to makes a Psycho a Psycho and the location to the legendary VaultHalla. There’s a small number of boss fights and not a single one of them will “guarantee” the Convergence Shotgun. This Legendary Shotgun is a world drop and can appear at any point during the DLC from any boss and or random enemy. Though players can farm Dr. Benedict as he has a much higher percentage of dropping it, it is still not a dedicated drop. Between all 4 expansions, the Fantastic Fustercluck falls 2nd as far as how frequently Legendary weapons drop, as well as how frequently Legendaries from the current DLC drop within it. Bounty of Blood has a much higher drop rate of Legendary weapons coming in first place for both cases as well.

The Convergence Shotgun can drop in every element and the flavor texts read “At the summit, you will find yourself united“. As per the name “Convergence”, firing the weapon creates the effect of extra projectiles converging on the target from all directions. The number of projectiles depends on the number of pellets the gun releases upon pulling the trigger. In the Damage section of the weapons info card, there will be a multiplier next to the damage number (97423 x3) indicating the number of pellets the shotgun releases per shot. Each pellet is then multiplied by 3 after assailing its target making it (3 x 3 = 9) total projectiles. The convergence is capable of rising up to a multiplier of even 8 pellets if players are lucky enough to get a good roll. That’s 24 projectiles in total with each individual pellet scaled to the total damage of the shotgun. This weapon seems to be a pretty good match for every Vault Hunter at different levels of effectiveness, with Zane trailing in last place. One interesting effect would be pairing it with Amara’s Indiscriminate which causes projectiles to ricochet to other targets; the weapons unique effect has a chance to converge on one or more extra targets. Ouch.
