Boruto: Naruto’s Next Threat Is Kara’s Leader Jigen

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations volume 10

In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations volume 10, Kara’s leader, Jigen, finally makes a move to get his hands on Kawaki. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the manga sequel to Naruto released after the original ended in 2014. The story revolves around the titular character, so much so that Naruto has to be nerfed and turned into a side character. After Boruto, Naruto, and Sasuke have defeated Momoshiki, a diamond seal similar to Orochimaru’s seal appears on Boruto’s right hand. The seal activates during times of need and grants Boruto power greater than his own. However, he soon learns that by using the Karma’s power, he’s slowly turning into Otsutsuki’s perfect vessel.

Naruto and the others learn about Karma with the help of Kawaki, who is being nurtured to be Otsutsuki’s vessel. Kawaki is on the run after learning his fate and is rescued and taken in by Naruto. He then tells Naruto and Boruto about the Karma and even helps Boruto control his powers. However, the members of Kara are hot on his trail.

Even though Naruto manages to defeat Delta, forcing her to self-destruct, Kara’s threat is still far from over. In volume 10 of the manga, which will be released on February 2, Jigen finally makes his appearance. Jigen uses the seal on Kawaki’s hand to create a portal. Fortunately, Naruto is always near Kawaki, so Jigen isn’t able to abduct Kawaki without getting through him first. Jigen easily subdues Naruto and brings him to another dimension. But before he can leave him there, Sasuke appears. He manages to find the other dimension by tracking Naruto’s chakra. With Naruto using Tailed Beast Form and Sasuke using Susanoo, they fight Jigen together, a scene similar to the end of Naruto. Despite using their strongest jutsus, Naruto and Sasuke still fail to defeat Jigen.

Naruto urges Sasuke to escape and leave him behind. Sasuke obliges, aiming to call for back-up. Kawaki, being given a prosthetic arm with Naruto’s chakra, senses that something happened to him first. With the resonance between his Karma and Bortuo’s Karma, they’ve created a portal to where Naruto is. But what’s awaiting on the other side is not just the sealed Naruto. Boro, another member of Kara, is standing guard.

The mystery behind Karma has riddled the minds of the fans since Momoshiki’s fall. The series has dropped a few clues on the previous volumes through Sasuke’s investigation. However, the answers Sasuke holds have to wait until he recovers. Although Jigen finally shows his skill, he is yet to show his full strength. Even the mysteries revolving his character are yet to be answered. Perhaps the next volumes of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations will finally unveil these mysteries.
