Lord Providence, the false god is the final boss within Bravely Second. While this boss fight starts dramatically, it still doesn’t show in the beginning just how long and drawn out this fight will be. Players will have to tangle with the false god three times before officially defeating him.

Each time the player is confronted with Lord Providence, they will need to prepare for a more desperate fight than the last. This first form will be revealed while trying to reach Vega. Unfortunately, Vega and the Lord Providence have connected, allowing the false god a physical form in their world.

How to Defeat the First Form of Lord Providence in Bravely Second

After the Lord of Providence declares his existence and finishes his doom and gloom speech, players can prepare for his attacks. The main focus during this fight is to get the player’s party covered with a heavily magical defense. Players should also put most of their protection on their healer, using the Lustrous Shield if they have it.

Outside having a healer, players should have a party that can deal mostly physical damage to the Lord of Providence. Wind and guns deal a decent amount of damage against him as well. Players should have fun with Hawkeyes, Bloody Wolf, and Fencer attacks.

The Lord’s main attacks that players should look out for are the Star of Destruction, Seven Stars, and Pawn of Fate. Star of Destruction is a non-elemental attack and Seven Stars is an AOE attack with seven light-based hits. Pawn of Fate is the most dangerous out of the bunch which will cast Doom on the party and cannot be cured.

However, there are two main ways players can counter this. If they finished the Yokai sidequest they will be able to use the Astral Magic Status Barrier Blast to prevent the status of Doom. Luckily, players who didn’t take part in this sidequest still have an option. In this case, use the Time Mage’s Reraise and Blast to revive the party members from a knockout.

The Lord won’t give up easily, and once his health is lowered below 50% he will fully heal himself. One of his final attacks will be the Mandate of Heaven. This requires one of the party members to strike another character in the party. Pay close attention to each of the messages after this attack as if he uses his Divine Punishment after his BP hits zero he will deal a mind-blowing 99,999 damage to the whole party. If the player can they should strike him while he is in a critical state before he uses this move to ignore this final attack.

How to Defeat the Second Form of Lord Providence in Bravely Second

After defeating Lord Providence’s physical form, he pulls his celestial form out from the sky above. His two mechanical hands can use Ruin and Salvation. The right hand dealing magical damage and the left dealing physical. As players will still be using the same party from the first form’s battle, this will make the left hand seem quite a bit stronger. Luckily, after their attacks, the hands will become immobile for three turns, allowing players to get in some healing and deal damage.

The Pyramid head is a different story and can use Dispel, making buffing the party not worth the time within the first phases of the battle. Much like his physical form, the Lord Providence is still weak to physical attacks, so keep up with the same strategy from the first fight to whittle away at him. He’s gained a weakness to dark attacks and Knuckles while in his celestial form, making those attacks are also well worth using.

His main attack to look out for other than the hands every five turns is the New World Order. This attack deals decent damage but could catch a party off guard if they haven’t healed up in time for it. With this and the fact that the Lord only has nine turns here, players shouldn’t worry too much about his secondary Ruin and Salvation attacks as there will be a few more cutscenes before the end.

How to Defeat the Final Form of Lord Providence in Bravely Second

After causing the party to attack itself by glitching the game out, Lord Providence is now in his final form. This form works mostly the same as the last. However, he isn’t limited by turns here so players will need to defeat him.

Players should focus on keeping their team alive as long as possible with near-constant healing. Outside of this, players should be damaging the hands first as they each only have 10,000 hit points each and are the main damaging foes that players have to watch out for. Focus on the left hand first as it will damage the party more than the right.

Another option for players with Holy magic is to use the Calm spell on the hands when they reach zero BP and focus on damaging the body instead. This can be a more useful strategy if available to the player as the hands do eventually revive within a couple of turns after being killed. With either of these fighting styles, the player will need to grind away at the false god until they have destroyed him and beat the game.
