While the show was being filmed, fans saw Traci deal with one main health issue. In Braxton Family Values season 5, it was revealed that Traci was dealing with PGAD, which stands for Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder. Traci dealt with experiencing spontaneous arousal which she did not mind at first but eventually, the disorder became overwhelming for the reality tv star and she eventually went through the process of dealing with this condition. Besides battling with PGAD, the only other issue Traci dealt with, relating to her health, was when her gynecologist suggested she get a hysterectomy due to issues that she was having and the harms it could cause if she did not have one. Apart from these two major concerns, Traci seemed to be pretty healthy.

Because her previous health history was not dire, it took fans by surprise when it was announced that the Braxton sister passed away from esophageal cancer at 50. It was more shocking that she had been dealing with this for a year. According to NBC News, Traci’s publicist, Tomasina Perkins-Washington, reported that Traci had been living in a hospice for a year. Though fans did not know that the singer was battling cancer, an image of Traci on Instagram from her son’s wedding began to raise rumors. In the image, the star’s figure shows that she dropped a tremendous amount of weight and there was a mixture of worried and critical comments. These comments became overwhelming for the star and she eventually turned her comments off for that post. Since that post, Traci did not post recent pictures of herself but rather, she mostly used her account to extend birthday greetings to varying family members.
