Shondaland’s Bridgerton is at its core a romance, laced with scandal, gossip, Regency-era opulence, and lots of spice. The first season gave viewers some iconic couples to obsess over, and the sophomore outing of the show didn’t disappoint either — fans now have the Viscount and Viscountess, along with several potential entanglements to look forward to.

Nobody does love songs better than Taylor Swift, and the global pop star has a ditty for every type of relationship. Be it infatuation, old love, temptation, or heartbreak, Swift’s songwriting fits just perfectly into the delicious flirtations of Bridgerton. These songs are synonymous with these relationships.

The garden imagery in the lyrics is also perfect because that was where Simon and Daphne’s passions couldn’t be contained, which led to many complications, but also a wedding. Neither of them wanted to admit their love to one another, making it the worst thing they could ever hear, but the “cruel season” ended with happiness for them.

Colin And Penelope: “You Belong With Me (Taylor’s Version)”

Penelope and Colin were some of the best characters in Bridgerton, but fans are anxious to see Colin realize his feelings for his best friend soon. “You Belong With Me (Taylor’s Version)” is tailor-made (pun unintended) for them, as Penelope tries her best to make Colin see that true love is closer to him than he thinks.

The second season saw them get closer with a slight push from Marina, and Colin took Penelope dancing in the last ball of the season. However, he got influenced by his mates, and Pen still awaits the day he will belong to her.

As theorized by fans, Bridgerton season 2 saw the slow-burn union of Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton, two individuals who were very much alike and had given up on love like the girl in the Taylor Swift song.

Kate had decided to live alone in India, while Anthony wanted to marry for convenience, but they found twin flames in each other both mentally and physically. Their spark was instantaneous, and when they gave in, they found true bliss and Anthony became the Viscount of her heart.

She promised to be there with him through sickness and health, and that’s what she continues to do on the show. Even when he embarrasses her in front of staff, and season 2, in front of her aristocrats, her companionship is solid through good and bad times.

Violet And Edmund: “Lover”

The Bridgerton matriarch and patriarch were no jaded old couple. Both Violet and Edmund loved each other dearly after many years of marriage, in the same way, that a couple would when they had just started their courtship. Edmund was Violet’s soulmate, and his demise took a big toll on her.

They would have spent a happy life together if it hadn’t been for the bee sting and were model parents for their children. If there was a relationship to aspire towards for the ton, it was theirs.

Edwina and Anthony courted for a while, but Anthony got left at the altar once Edwina figured out the emotional affair that he was having with her sister. Anthony made big promises of marriage and companionship to Edwina, knowing full well that he liked Kate, which he should not have done.

Despite Kate finding love with Anthony, he had crushed Edwina’s hopes and dreams of a happy married life, and Edwina ended up resenting the Viscount after he ruined her big day.

The too-young Bridgerton brother and the beautiful Marina seemed like a great match if only her motivations to marry him hadn’t been shady. Marina was not a bad person; she was a woman who was trapped in a difficult situation and looking for a way out, and her love for her baby made her do untoward things like trapping Colin.

She had had her affair with an older man who died and thus needed to secure her position. She did love Colin, despite her schemes, and this love was ultimately what led to their separation.
