Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago’s romance is a beloved part of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Raymond Holt’s serious personality makes him a fan favorite character. While the main characters on this popular sitcom are incredibly compelling, the show does a good job of introducing minor characters in most episodes.

There are many side characters on Brooklyn Nine-Nine who suit the show’s silly tone. While they may only appear in a few episodes and they aren’t part of the main cast, they feel just as important, and they make fans laugh and think about their personal and professional lives.

10 Kevin M. Cozner

Kevin and Holt’s beloved Brooklyn Nine-Nine relationship is special and it’s heartbreaking when they briefly separate in season 8.

Kevin is just as formal and intelligent as Captain Holt, and they are absolutely perfect for each other as they share the same personality and interests. Kevin appears in many episodes and since he is such a big part of Holt’s life, it seems like he can be considered more than a side character.

9 The Vulture

While The Vulture is definitely a real person on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, he looms large as a mysterious figure who could strike at any moment. In season 5, The Vulture becomes involved in a major plotline when he takes the place where Amy and Jake are going to get married for himself.

Since The Vulture almost ruins Jake and Amy’s wedding, and since he’s always trying to hurt the other characters, he feels like he has main character energy.

8 Katie Peralta

When Amy and Jake meet Jake’s half-sister, they’re totally shocked by how wild she is. She comes off the plane in handcuffs as she hurt a someone on the plane and then she says that her dinner should be free because she lies about eating glass.

Katie might only appear on the sitcom briefly, but she definitely seems like more than just a minor character. Katie has a bold personality and sense of adventure, and it’s easy to imagine the trouble that she and Jake would get into if they lived in the same city.

7 Sam Boyle

The season 8 episode “Game of Boyles” is one of the most hilarious out of the entire series, as Jake tries to figure out who gave Charles’s uncle the poison that killed him. This storyline ends up revealing that Charles was adopted, a fact that truly unnerves him.

Sam Boyle stands out in this episode, as it turns out that he didn’t want anyone to see the will because he’s envious of Charles. Fans love the funny Boyle family on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and while they are all larger than life characters, Sam’s  desire to lie to his family makes him the most memorable.

6 Bill Hummertrout

Bill Hummertrout is one of the most fascinating characters. He looks like Charles Boyle and Jake likes when he’s part of the famous Halloween heist each year.

Bill is a quirky and strange person who fits perfectly into the tone of the show, as he sells NutriBoom and often annoys the others, but Jake loves him and thinks highly of him.

5 Adrian Pimento

Rosa’s tough Brooklyn Nine-Nine scenes are just one reason why fans love her so much. When she falls for the quirky and wacky side character Adrian Pimento, fans are fascinated by this unexpected and hilarious relationship.

Viewers can never predict how Adrian is going to act as he’s very intense, and that makes him seem like more of a main character than many others.

4 Genevieve Mirren-Carter

Charles falls for Genevieve Mirren-Carter, and this changes his life, as the two adopt their son Nikolaj.

Although Genevieve doesn’t appear in a long list of episodes and fans hear more about Nikolaj, it’s possible to see Genevieve as someone with main character vibes. Fans know her backstory, as she gets in trouble for insurance fraud, and she and Charles seem to really get each other.

3 Stevie Schillens

Stevie Schillens and Jake used to work together, and they call themselves “The Beatsie Boys.” In season 3, Jake, Stevie, and Charles are on a stakeout together, and because this upsets Charles and makes him realize how important his friendship with Jake is, Stevie’s time on the show is a big deal.

After this moment, it’s fair to say that Jake and Charles become even closer, and it’s Jake who realizes that Charles isn’t a Boyle in season 8. While Jake and Stevie have a nice, special bond, nothing will ever replace how Jake and Charles feel about each ohter.

2 Doug Judy

Doug Judy makes a perfect final appearance in season 8 when he tells Jake that he’s going to prison and he wants to drive there with him so they can have one last adventure.

Jake is an intelligent detective on Brooklyn Nine-Nine in many instances, but when it comes to this minor character who seems like a main character, Jake creates a friendship with him. It’s so much fun watching Jake and Doug Judy hang out as Jake is supposed to be punishing him for his constant crimes of stealing Pontiacs, but Jake likes him and they bond a lot.

1 Madeline Wuntch

It’s a big shock when Madeline Wuntch dies, and even Captain Holt is emotional as he realizes that their feud was a happy part of his life since he enjoys being competitive.

Wuntch is another side character who plays a big part on the sitcom. It’s entertaining seeing these two characters go up against each other and it does seem like they have a certain fondness for each other despite their fighting.
