There are many secrets waiting to be discovered on Snaktooth Island in Bugsnax. Players will need to collect the half-bug, half-snack creatures who call the island home. At the same time, they will spend time investigating what happened to disgraced explorer Elizabert. Some fans have even analyzed the trailer and determined the game might come with some hidden, horror-movie-like secrets that make the game darker than its fun, colorful exterior suggests. Players will learn some secrets by advancing the main story and completing side missions. Others can be found at any time, as long as players diligently explore the different biomes of the island.

One secret that will make travel much simpler for players is a shortcut between Boiling Bay and Sizzlin’ Sands. Because of the way the map is laid out, it’s possible to get isolated in any of the biomes. Players wanting to travel from Boiling Bay to Sizzlin’ Sands would need to travel through Shimmering Springs, Snaxburg, and Scorched Gorge. Instead of going to that trouble, players can find this shortcut to quickly get from one to the other. In addition to having an easy method of fast-travel between the zones, players will also unlock a trophy achievement for discovering this passage. Here’s how to find and open the shortcut between Boiling Bay and Sizzlin’ Sands in Bugsnax.

Find and Open The Boiling Bay to Sizzlin’ Sands Shortcut in Bugsnax

Players can access and open the shortcut from either the Boiling Bay or Sizzlin’ Sands side. On the Sizzlin’ Sands side, players will want to find the four serpentine statues near some large rocks. On the Boiling Bay side, players will need to enter the lava cave and find the cocomites statues against one of the cave walls.

Players will need to solve a puzzle to open the shortcut. The Sizzlin’ Sands side puzzle is just slightly simpler, so players should head to that one if they want easier access to the passage.

At the four statues, players will notice each one is looking at another, with one looking away from the rest. Players will need to walk up and activate the statues in order of sightline, ending with the one looking away from all the others. Each statue will fall into the sand, and, if the puzzle has been completed properly, a jingling sound cue will play, and a door will appear on a sand dune to the right of the statues. Entering that door will take the player to the Boiling Bay.

If players prefer to use the Boiling Bay side, or if they’re just closer to that one, they will need to activate another set of four statues. These each have a set of straws sticking out of the mouth part. Players will need to activate these in ascending order of straws from one to four. The same thing will happen, with a door appearing that will take the player back to Sizzlin’ Sands.

So far, this is the only secret passage that is known between different zones in Bugsnax.
