Legends of Tomorrow star Caity Lotz celebrates directing an upcoming episode of The Flash season 8 in a new behind-the-scenes image. While the Arrowverse shows have yet to be renewed, production is still going on for a few of them. Since Batwoman season 3 and Legends of Tomorrow season 7 only had 13 episodes this year, the two DC dramas finished shooting a few months ago. Meanwhile, Superman & Lois season 2 still has a few episodes remaining to film in its 15-episode, as does The Flash season 8 with its 18 installments.

Something that has become more common over the last few years is several Arrowverse actors also getting behind the camera as directors. Stars like Melissa Benoist, David Ramsey, Katie Cassidy, Jes Macallan, and many more who started out as actors on their respective series have over the years gone on to make their directorial debuts. Veteran stars like Tom Cavanagh and Chad Lowe, who have respectively starred on The Flash and Supergirl, have also been able to helm a number of episodes in the last few seasons.

Caity Lotz, who is best known as the Arrowverse’s Sara Lance, a.k.a. the White Canary, is also another Arrowverse vet who has helmed several Legends of Tomorrow episodes. While Legends of Tomorrow season 7 has just finished its run, Lotz is not done yet with the Arrowverse for this season. In a recent Instagram post, Lotz celebrated with a new BTS photo that she is directing an upcoming episode of The Flash season 8.

This announcement marks Lotz’s first time directing an Arrowverse episode outside Legends of Tomorrow. It’s unclear which episode Lotz is specifically directing of The Flash season 8. However, given the show being set to wrap production sometime in April, it’s most likely that Lotz’s episode will be one of the final 4-5 installments of the ongoing season. While Lotz helming the unspecified episode is exciting, fans should not expect to see the White Canary appear in any capacity. Due to how Legends of Tomorrow season 7 ended, Sara would, at this point, still be under arrest with the other Legends.

Nevertheless, it must be fun for The Flash cast members to be reunited with Lotz as actors like Grant Gustin have worked with her for years now on-screen. Lotz won’t be the only Arrowverse actor to direct one of The Flash season 8’s last few episodes. Danielle Panabaker, who portrays Caitlin Snow and Killer Frost, revealed recently she is directing The Flash episode 17, which will be the penultimate episode before the season finale. This makes it Panabaker’s fourth directed episode of the series since she made her directorial debut in 2019. As The Flash season 8 is set to resume this week, it will be intriguing to see what’s in store for the back half of the season.
