A new leak indicates that Call of Duty: Vanguard may be crossing over with the acclaimed manga and anime series Attack on Titan. The leak indicates that some weapons inspired by Attack on Titan will be coming to the latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise. When the new content might arrive, though, is unclear.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Call of Duty: Vanguard arrived to much fanfare, as it marked the series’ return to the World War II theater of battle for the first time since 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII. Players were excited at the prospect of a more “boots on the ground” focused installment, stripping away much of the high-tech gadgetry and weapons that have become so prominent in Call of Duty games. In addition, Call of Duty: Vanguard promises new content for the series’s popular battle royale mode Warzone as well as new missions for the beloved zombies mode. However, if a new leak is to be believed, it’s possible that the futuristic content might not be completely in Call of Duty‘s past.

According to reputable Call of Duty leaker Zesty (via DualShockers), datamining has revealed a list of weapons that could be coming to Vanguard. Among the list is a sword that is listed as a non-katana melee weapon. The weapon descriptions, “aot_swords” and “s4_me_swordtitan” have led Zesty to speculate that the weapon is related to Attack on Titan. This would hint at an upcoming collaboration between the manga series and best-selling military shooter franchise, with a weapon from Attack on Titan possibly coming to the game.

Fans have already begun speculating which of the famous Attack on Titan swords could be added to Call of Duty: Vanguard. The most common theory by fans is that the sword in question could be that of Attack on Titan‘s Levi Ackerman. With an unorthodox fighting style, as Levi wields his sword backhanded, this could make for an interesting addition. It could also allow for the addition of Levi and other Attack on Titan characters to Call of Duty as skins. If nothing else, the thought of one of the greatest Titan killers going after Nazis is an interesting idea.

It is surely surprising, though, that Call of Duty: Vanguard isn’t even a week old and already there are hints of new DLC already in the works. While Call of Duty has been known to crossover with pop culture entities like Rambo, Scream‘s Ghostface, and Die Hard, it does seem a bit early for such content to be coming to a new game. For now, though, the leaks are to be taken with a grain of salt, as nothing definitive has been confirmed.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
