As previously promised, developer Sledgehammer Games has unleashed a premiere trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies, which confirms the return of the Shi No Numa map. A swamp locale, Shi No Numa originally debuted in 2009 as a map for the Zombies mode in Call of Duty: World at War. It’s since reappeared in a few other titles in the series, including Black Ops, Black Ops III, and COD: Mobile. Shi No Numa’s return seemed a given considering the World War II setting of Vanguard.

Vanguard’s story campaign takes place across multiple theaters of war and gives players a front-row seat to the birth of Special Forces. The idea of such groups matured throughout the WWII era; thus, Sledgehammer, for its part, focused on identifying these bands of well-trained soldiers and shining a light on their war efforts. Players can expect to view Vanguard’s depiction of WWII through the lens of four different Special Forces members, all of whom will travel to Berlin on orders to investigate a reported Nazi agenda that revolves around extending their rule post-Hitler. And when the credits roll on the campaign, players will have something else special waiting in the wings.

The COD: Vanguard Zombies reveal aired today, October 14, as promised, giving fans a first look at the multiplayer mode’s return. Interestingly, the two-minute trailer treats fans to news of another exciting return – that of the mode’s classic She No Numa map, which typically takes place in Japanese territory. The trailer additionally offer teases of what players should anticipate from the Dark Aether storyline that first made waves in Black Ops Cold War. See the reveal in the video linked below:

It’s clear Sledgehammer Games won’t pull any punches with this year’s Zombies content. But, of course, fans will be the judge of whether or not it ranks high in terms of the franchise’s usual offerings. The confirmation of Shi No Numa may very well pique the interest of more than a fair few COD faithful, however.

Though Vanguard serves as Sledgehammer’s second World War II-set entry in a row, the narrative itself isn’t considered a sequel. Still, here’s to hoping the content differentiates itself well enough from 2017’s COD: WWII.

Call of Duty: Vanguard comes to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on November 5.
