Forgetting a password is never fun, but the problem becomes all the more harder to fix for Snapchat users when they also can’t remember the right email address and phone number. Snapchat provides users with multiple ways to reset their password when forgotten, but at least one piece of information is usually needed for security reasons.

In spite of the rise of services like TikTok, Snapchat remains a popular app and service, and one that even appears to be growing in popularity on Android. However, for those who haven’t used the service in some time, remembering the right login details can be an issue. Likewise, the same problem might be encountered by frequent users as well, such as when deleting the Android or iOS app and attempting to install it again on a different smartphone. Worst still, entering the wrong details too many times could result in the account being locked.

When a Snapchat user has forgotten their password, resetting it is easy enough through the ‘forgot password’ option in the Android or iOS app. As long as the user has access to either the connected email or phone number, they can receive an email or SMS message and continue through the process of resetting the password. If the user does not have access to the email or phone number then they won’t be able to reset their password. The same is true if the user cannot remember the email address or password, regardless of whether they have access or not.

Can Always Try Contacting Snapchat

When all else fails, there is the option to contact Snapchat to see if the team can help. The service’s online contact form has an “I forgot my password” option and to access it, head over to the Snapchat Contact Us page, click on “I can’t access my account” and then on “I forgot my password.” The user will then be presented with some of the options for resetting their password, but clicking on the Yes button for “Need help with something else?” will open the option to send a message to Snapchat explaining the situation.

Of course, whether or not Snapchat will be able to help after being contacted remains to be seen. If it is simply a matter of not having access to the email and phone number any longer, then help might be possible. However, as this is a security feature, if the user is unable to confirm the password, the email address, or even the phone number, then it seems unlikely that the user will be able to prove ownership of the Snapchat account.
