Fans of Canada’s Drag Race have eagerly awaited the return of the popular spinoff series since its finale over a year ago, and the RuPaul franchise’s season 2 finally has a premiere date. The debut season of Canada’s recreation of the international phenomenon RuPaul’s Drag Race was embraced by fans of drag around the world. Fortunately, the Drag Race legend-in-the-making Brooke Lynn Hytes just confirmed when audiences can expect season 2 to premiere, and it’s sooner than fans might have suspected.

Canda’s Drag Race season 1 was successful in launching a cast of beloved drag queens into the vein of pop culture. Fans fell in love with the Canadian iteration of Drag Race, even though RuPaul was absent from the judging panel. For season 2, however, much will be different. Chiefly, the judges dictating which queens will advance to the top of the competition have been almost completely shuffled out for new drag referees. During Canada‘s Drag Race season 1, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Stacey McKenzie, and RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11 star Brooke Lynn Hytes presided over the panel and handpicked the winner, Priyanka. Fans were disappointed to learn that Jeffrey and Stacey won’t return for season 2. Instead, Amanda Brugel, Traci Melchor, and fashion stylist Greg Boreski will join Brooke.

Since Canada’s Drag Race season 1 came to an end on September 3, 2020, Priyanka has enjoyed her long reign as the sole winner of the spinoff series. Soon, her reign will come to an end, as a new gaggle of ambitious drag queens vies for the crown this fall. On September 14, veteran judge Brooke Lynn Hytes took to Instagram to share a new teaser of the upcoming season 2. One major aspect of Brooke’s post was that it included when and where the next season of Canada’s Drag Race can be enjoyed by drag fans. Brooke captioned the photo, “See you all October 14 on @cravecanada at 9 p.m. EST.” Brooke’s post confirmed the premiere date and time, and the rest of the Canada’s Drag Race season will be released on the following Thursday evenings.

Brooke’s post also revealed more details about the upcoming season. In addition to sharing where and when to watch Canada’s Drag Race season 2, the teaser announced the names of the drag queens competing on the highly anticipated season. The Canadian queens contending for the crown include Adriana, Beth, Eve 6000, Gia Metric, Icesis Couture, Kendall Gender, Kimora Amour, Océane Aqua-Black, Pythia, Stephanie Prince, Suki Doll, and Synthia Kiss. These 12 queens will compete for the favor of Brooke, Amanda, Traci, and Greg starting on Thursday, October 14. After welcoming this dozen of queens to “The candy shop,” Brooke demanded that all of her Instagram followers “Go follow these Queens!”

It’s been a long time coming, but Canada’s Drag Race season 2 is finally on the way. Although audiences had to wait over an entire year for season 2, October 14 is a relatively short wait for all of the entertainment that is about to come fans’ way. Brooke’s post ensures that the countdown for Canada’s Drag Race season 2 has begun, at long last.
