Warning! Spoilers for King in Black #5 below!

Captain America’s greatest move in Avengers: Endgame was just copied Venom in the grand finale of the King in Black – but with a twist. In the issue, Eddie Brock not only manages to grab the Silver Surfer’s sword (crafted from his board) but also summons Mjolnir right from the God of Thunder’s hands. Venom then combines the two weapons to create a superweapon against Knull.

In Avengers: Endgame, the most jaw-dropping moment was during the heroes’ battle with Thanos. As the Mad Titan is about to impale Thor with Stormbreaker, Mjolnir starts to shake and lifts off the ground and goes into Captain America’s hand. The scene not only paid off on an earlier moment where Captain America nearly lifted his hammer in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but it also proved that the patriotic hero was worthy. As far as crowd-pleasing moments, it doesn’t get much better than Cap lifting Thor’s hammer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In the epic last issue of the King in Black event by Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, and Frank Martin, Venom arrives with the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes right as Captain America calls on them to assemble. Now the host of both a symbiote and the God of Light rejuvenated Venom calls upon two of the most powerful weapons in the universe – Thor’s hammer and Silver Surfer’s sword and combines them into a massive, light-powered battle axe.

The moment is reminiscent of Captain America calling on Mjolnir against his last fight against Thanos. In this case, the Enigma Force made Venom worthy, as he became the literal God of Light. He showed how powerful the Enigma Force really is by taking the two weapons and making it a God-killer. With the axe, Venom rips throughs Knull army beheads a symbiote Celestial, and plunges it deep into the God of Symbiotes chest. He kills Knull by throwing his hapless body into the sun. Thankfully for both Surfer and Thor, their weapons are returned to them in one piece.

Ultimately, Venom did his best Captain America impression from Avengers: Endgame, calling up on Mjolnir to defeat the King in Black. While Venom wouldn’t use Mjolnir as is, it played an integral role in ultimately defeating the ancient cosmic God of Symbiotes who nearly succeeded in enveloping the Earth in darkness. In King in Black #5, Venom proves to be every bit the hero Captain America does in the MCU and is the key to beating Knull in a gruesome fashion.
