As one of the newest heroes in the MCU, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has already made a considerable impression. She sadly hasn’t gotten much screentime with the other heroes of the universe, but from her solo movie and her brief appearance in Avengers: Endgame, she has managed to make a surprising number of friends.

In some cases, these relationships are just beginning to form and hint at a connection shared. But then there are relationships that obviously mean a great deal to her and have helped to shape her journey in the MCU thus far.

10 Thor

While What If…? had a lot of fun with Carol and Thor facing off with each other in an alternate reality, Avengers: Endgame shows signs of a bind beginning to form between these two very powerful heroes during the very brief interaction.

When Carol shows up after the Blip, the other heroes are a little skeptical of her and her confidence that she can take on Thanos by herself. But she helps to wake Thor out of his depressed funk and he simply comments that “I like this one.” It’s not much but it could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

9 Tony Stark

The admiration between carol and Tony Stark is probably a little one-sided for good reason, but there seems to be a connection there. Given the fact that Carol flew up into space and rescued Tony dying lost in the cosmos, it’s not surprising that he is a big fan.

Tony enthusiastically praises Carol as some much-needed “new blood” for the Avengers. And though Carol doesn’t show quite as much enthusiasm for him, she does kindly offer to pick him up some intergalactic medicine on her way back from killing Thanos.

8 Rocket

One of the great joys of the MCU is seeing all the strange characters who get a chance to interact. Few people would have suspected a pairing of Carol and Rocket would mean much, but they are fun together.

It seems that a lot of their bonding happened in the five years post-Blip while they worked together to keep the galaxy peaceful. They have a fun bickering dynamic together where Rocket insults her but she is not at all shy about putting him in his place.

7 Natasha Romanoff

Another friendship that is more implied than seen is between Carol and Natasha. This is another instance of a more workplace relationship as they are members of what remains of the Avengers.

But though Carol usually seems like someone who would rather work alone, she appears to have great respect for Natasha. As Natasha runs the team of heroes, Carol reports to her and seems genuinely regretful that she is not able to return to Earth and help out as often as she’d like.

6 Goose

On the outside, Goose looks like a fairly normal and adorable cat. However, it is secretly one of the deadliest creatures in the galaxy, known as a flerken. It is shown to be able to swallow enemies in a single gulp and can even be quite aggressive with allies as it is responsible for taking Nick Fury’s eye.

But almost immediately, Goose takes a liking to Carol. Mar-vell even expresses surprise at how cuddly the cat-like monster gets, suggesting it might recognize the good in Carol right away.

5 Mar-vell

This is one of the most short-lived friendships in the MCU yet it is still quite impactful. While under the guise of Dr. Wendy Lawson, the Kree hero Mar-vell seeks out Carol’s help as a pilot to get her newest life-saving invention working.

In many ways, Carol takes inspiration from Mar-vell in discovering the kind of hero she wants to be. She sees Mar-vell as someone who is willing to fight against her own people to help those who are in need and dies trying to make sure they would be safe.

4 Talos

Talos is one of the most interesting characters in Captain Marvel. As the leader of the shape-shifting Skrull, he initially appears to be a villain who is leading a war against the Kree people. However, he eventually shows that he is just trying to save his people from the tyrannical Kree empire.

Once Carol knows the truth, she and Talos become quick allies. She even volunteers to leave the home she just rediscovered in order to help the Skrull find a new home of their own.

3 Monica Rambeau

Though Carol has no memory of her past life on Earth, Monica Rambeau is someone who never forgot her. Monica is the daughter of Carol’s best friend, Maria, and refers to Carol as her aunt, showing that they have a bond that was more like family than friends.

Even though she doesn’t remember Monica, Carol is able to reconnect with the little girl very quickly, showing the strength of their relationship. interestingly, when adult Monica appears in WandaVision, it suggests her feelings about Carol have soured over the years which will make for an interesting reunion in The Marvels.

2 Maria Rambeau

The long friendship shared between Carol and Maria is only seen in glimpses in Captain Marvel, but it is obvious that these two mean so much to each other. Not only do they support each other as they become pilots, but they are seen laughing and having fun in ways most MCU best friends don’t have.

When Carol returns, it is Maria who helps her remember the person she was before she became a Kree warrior. Maria helps to ground her and is willing to fight alongside her old friend against intergalactic threats.

1 Nick Fury

Though Nick Fury is mostly seen in the MCU as a very serious and stern figure, Carol seems to bring a lighter side out in him. Captain Marvel reveals that these two met back in the 1990s and quickly formed a buddy-cop partnership that is very charming.

They get to know each other quite well over the course of their adventure and that bond lasts for decades. When Fury is taken by the Blip, Carol returns to Earth to find him and it is clear how devastated she is to find out he’s gone.
