New Chaos Walking movie posters have been released, featuring both Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley, the film’s two main leads. The first Chaos Walking poster was released just a few days ago. This was then followed by a first look teaser trailer, marking Lionsgate kick-starting official promotion of the film for its January 2021 release.

Chaos Walking, based on The Knife of Letting Go which isthe first installment of the popular young adult series Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness, was originally set to release in 2019 but was soon plagued with reshoots. While the film seems to now be gearing up for its January 22, 2021 release, no official date has been printed on the promotional posters released by Lionsgate, perhaps building in a back-up plan just in case the film gets pushed back again due to other complications, like COVID-19. The posters are released ahead of the full Chaos Walking movie trailer debuting tomorrow.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The posters for the film are reminiscent of the Star Wars’ prequel trilogy posters mixed with The Hunger Games franchise’s promotional posters, building a sense of familiarity with other post-apocalyptic or science fiction worlds and displaying exactly how Lionsgate attempts to make this series its next young adult franchise. But the posters also look very clean-cut and glossy, making them also seem more like the book covers from which the films are adapted. Regardless, the promotional material for this film is hitting a certain sweet spot of nostalgia and excitement that will hopefully pay off come Chaos Walking’s January release.
