The Cheaper by the Dozen remake will release on Disney+ on March 18, 2022, this time focusing on a large blended family. Led by Gabrielle Union and Zach Braff, it features an ensemble cast with the majority of the child stars being first-time actors who don’t have large acting credits.

The adults in addition to Union and Braff do have longer histories, which are worth checking out. A few of the child actors do have prior experiences and these should be seen to appreciate where they’re coming from. With the lead duo being the main draw, Zach Braff and Gabrielle Union’s TV and film credits should be singled out in greater detail as well.

Zach Braff: Garden State (2004)

Stream On Epix

In many ways a coming-of-age movie for adults, Garden State is about the theme of growing up way past its due date. Zach Braff wrote and directed this romantic comedy-drama, playing a young actor/waiter who returns home after the death of his mother and realizes he’s been wasting his life away.

The film put Braff on the map as a director and a serious actor, as audiences had largely considered him to be of the comedic variety before that. Garden State has a feel-good atmosphere, with the characters falling in love and finally taking on roles of responsibility.

Gabrielle Union: Bring It On (2000)

Stream On Direct TV

Even more than two decades later, Bring It On still holds up well today for the way it focuses on self-esteem and respect. Gabrielle Union came into the mainstream public’s eye with the movie, starring as Isis, the leader of a cheerleader group whose routine was stolen by their rivals.

Union’s character is the secondary protagonist, with Kirsten Dunst playing the main character who discovers that Isis’ group really did come up with the routine first. With Cheaper by the Dozen placing Union in the role of a mother, fans will be interested to see her play a high schooler here.

Kylie Rogers: The Whispers (2015)

Stream On Vudu

The Whispers was a science fiction drama with a unique premise, centering around a mysterious being who becomes the imaginary friend to multiple children and causes several accidents. The investigation into why this phenomenon is occurring is the basis of the series.

Kylie Rogers is playing one of the older ones in the clan in Cheaper by the Dozen, while she was a child actress in The Whispers. Rogers’ is one of the primary characters whose communication with the mysterious being is used to zero in on what it is supposed to be.

Erika Christensen: Traffic (2000)

Stream On Epix

The movie centers around the drug trade and how heavily it impacts everyone involved, with Caroline being one of the major people to suffer. Cheaper by the Dozen places Christensen in a much happier setting, but fans will be very impressed to see her range considering the heavy-handed themes of Traffic.

Aryan Simhadri: Spin (2021)

Stream On Disney+

Aryan Simhadri is still in the beginning phase of his career and has a limited filmography, although he was seen in a larger capacity in Spin. The movie is about teenager Rhea Kumar (Avantika Vandanapu), who tries to go against her family’s desire for her to be in their restaurant business to become a DJ.

Simhadri plays Rohan, the younger brother of the main character, and brings much of the comedic element to the movie. He will be seen as part of a family in Cheaper by the Dozen, so viewers would find it familiar to see him in Spin putting his acting skills to good use.

Ron Funches: Undateable (2014-16)

Stream On Google Play

Ron Funches has been a go-to funnyman for various films and shows over the last decade and he got his big break from Undateable. The sitcom is about a number of guys who all have certain qualities that make them undateable, with Funches playing the oddball Shelly who has a lot of eccentricities.

Funches’ penchant for well-timed comedy got him noticed through Undateable, which is worth a watch to check out where the comedian started out on TV. He will be similarly seen in the role of the designated funnyman in Cheaper by the Dozen, although the jokes here will be more family-friendly.

Brittany And Cynthia Daniel: Sweet Valley High (1994-97)

Not Currently Available To Stream

The Daniel twins were notable names in the ‘90s, where they starred together in the Sweet Valley High TV series. The show was based on the books but took on a more realistic turn and was more focused on the comedy aspect of things mingled with some dramatic material.

Cheaper by the Dozen reunites the pair after Cynthia Daniel’s retirement, which will certainly make fans want to see them together again. Sweet Valley High ran for a good few years, so there’s quite a lot of high school drama and shenanigans to check out the pair in.

Luke Prael: Boarding School (2018)

Not Currently Available To Stream

Luke Prael plays one of the older children in Cheaper by the Dozen and gets to be in a more positive setting than he’s used to. Boarding School is one of his earlier works, where he stars in the lead role as 12 -year-old Jacob, who’s sent to a nightmarish school filled with menacing teachers and horrific activities.

The actor’s career is young like himself, but he’s already been in a strikingly mature movie already. Cheaper by the Dozen tests out his talents in a funnier movie, while Boarding School had him play out a character scared beyond his wits and looking to survive.

Gabrielle Union: L.A.’s Finest (2019-20)

Stream On Netflix

Gabrielle Union earlier played a character part of a couple in Bad Boys II, where she was the love interest to Will Smith’s protagonist. The same character, Detective Syd Burnett, leads L.A.’s Finest, where she teams with Detective Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba) to solve various homicides.

L.A.’s Finest is the most recent credit in Gabrielle Union’s filmography, although the character originated two decades prior. It’s fun to see the actress take charge as the lead detective, which shows her acting talent since it’s a big departure from how her character is in Cheaper by the Dozen.

Zach Braff: Scrubs (2001-10)

Stream On Amazon Prime Video

There’s no doubt that Zach Braff’s rise to fame is due to his role in Scrubs that propelled him into the big stage. The sitcom is about John Dorian, who starts off as a medical intern, meeting doctors and patients of different personalities on the way to becoming an attending.

J.D.’s frequent thoughts and elaborate fantasies make Scrubs the unique medical show it is, coupled with relationship dynamics and J.D.’s bromance with his best friend. Zach Braff’s turn in Cheaper by the Dozen is a return to straight-up comedy that first started out two decades prior with Scrubs.
