However, as the amount of movies and television shows in the MCU canon continues to grow, the overall franchise timeline becomes increasingly more confusing by offering flashbacks, intersecting with other entries and sometimes even retconning events entirely. Likewise, the geographical scope of the MCU continues to grow with Guardians of the Galaxy taking the series into space and the forthcoming Black Panther promising to explore the largely unknown Wakanda.

Thankfully then, a Reddit user by the name of MrRLopez has come to the rescue and diligently created an interactive timeline and world map for the entire MCU. The timeline (which can be found here) goes from foundation of the Arena club in 1906 (as seen in Agent Carter) right up to the Stark Expo in October 2018 as referenced in promotional material for Spider-Man: Homecoming and charts every significant MCU event in between on both the big and small screens.

MrRLopez has also created a world map (found here) to go along with the timeline which helpfully uses Google Maps to chart every significant location from the MCU movies, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the various Netflix projects. Clicking on each location will also give a brief description of the MCU events that happened at that particular spot. The map certainly makes the globe-trotting adventures of Tony Stark and co. easier to wrap your head around, although for obvious reasons, intergalactic locations aren’t included.

Clearly a labor of love and dedication, these two tools will surely be welcomed by Marvel fans across the world who are desperately attempting to keep track of the franchise’s narrative and overall timeline and will also hopefully clear up a few debates or questions viewers have regarding when or where certain events take place.

Of course, however, the project is still growing. User feedback on Reddit has resulted in the addition of locations such as Bern, Switzerland (Stark meets Aldrich Killian) and Bucharest (Bucky’s plums). The recent release of Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as the glut of other movies and television series announced will no doubt complicate matters further but at least fans now have a place to clear up their MCU confusion.
